Rainforest Cafe London Review
Rainforest Cafe London is featured in these Guides:
Top 10 things you need to know about the Rainforest Café:
1) You will be welcomed by your waitress; sorry, Jungle Guide, who, in full safari get-up, will lead you through the undergrowth, past the moving gorilla, to your table.
2) Once you’ve scoured the extensive menu you’ll decide to share a selection of starters, including nachos and chicken dippers with chilli jam (you’ll ask for extra).
3) You’ll be impressed by the portion sizes and by the time your 12oz steak arrives, perfectly medium rare with delicious garlic mash, you’ll be wondering how you’ll squeeze in dessert.
4) Luckily you’ll have a resting period when the kids will run off to visit the exotic fish tank and see the leopard sway his tail to the music’s beat.
5) Beware: monsoon season comes every half an hour and the canopy of stars and foliage will be rocked by tropical thunder and lightning. During this time you may have to shout over the sound of the elephants.
6) Make sure you’re well versed on the lyrics to happy birthday, because you’ll be singing it every 10 minutes. However, instead of finding it irritating, you will get thoroughly involved and know the names of almost all the other guests by the end, even yelling “enjoy your day” to Tabitha as you pass her table on exiting.
7) Dessert is a triumphant affair; a medley of waffles, ice-cream and (almost intimidating) Sparkling Volcano – a mammoth combination of ice cream, brownie, sauces, marshmallows and cream, topped off with a sparkler (great for groups).
8) Kids will tuck into their special desserts from the very reasonably priced ‘Rascals Menu’ including dairy free ice cream and Jungle Jelly with Smarties.
9) If you don’t have children, head to the bar, away from the excitable shrieks of the deeper jungle depths, but still atmospheric. You’ll order a June Bug cocktail - Midori melon with crème de bananes, Malibu and fresh pineapple - perch on a giraffe and enjoy sophisticated conversation (only interrupted by a sneaky visit to see the gorilla – you’ll be enthralled but pretend it’s no biggie).
10) Make sure you leave some time to browse the shop, feed pennies to the moving alligator and play with the toys. You may wonder why they sell Peppa Pig toys at a Rainforest themed café – so did we!...read more

“I found it very good, the prices were brilliant, the effect in the restaurant was also very good, and loads of fun for us kids. The only bad thing was that the shop was a bit too expensive. Overall, though, very good. We may go there again.”

“You cant fault the atmosphere at this restaurant. If you have kids then this is a perfect restaurant to bring them to. The whole place is kitted out with an array of cool animatronics, strobe and lighting effects, plus they have a special menu just for kids. And crayons. The service is also excellent but the prices and the quality of the food don't match the experience. Prepare to spend big as you exit through the gift shop.”

“Well, apart from being 'hijacked' on a street corner by one of their salesmen, to con us into going there, I didn't appreciate having to pay £12 to get in, then finding out i could have possibly got it for 10 from another one of their 'salesmen'. Not only did we have tickets, but we still had to wait outside for half an hour to actually get in! By the time we got in, my feet were aching and when i tried to go and sit down at a table, i was told i wasnt allowed to do so cos i didnt have a 'wristband' - whatever that meant. I assume it's because i had to pay to go into that area! What a cheek. i didn't appreciate it. The decoration of the place is done well, i'll admit. but it doesnt make up for feeling so uncomfortable. I didn't bother going to the bar... my friends bought me a drink so i didnt know how much it even cost. the music was a bit housey for me, and the crowd was lots of young school leavers mostly. Only good thing about it is that it wasnt over crowded. I wont be going back again though.”
