The Porterhouse Description
The Porterhouse is featured in these Guides:
This Covent Garden bar and restaurant is loved by thirsty Londoners all year long. A front courtyard attracts hordes of after-workers in the summer who also make the most of its three spacious interior levels in the winter. Part of Ireland's largest independent brewery, The Porterhouse has an undeniably Irish flare with hundreds of award winning stouts, lagers and ales on tap, all brewed in the Dublin brewery. There are almost as many whiskeys. There are four bars over five floors and it can get very busy, especially at the weekend when there's live music every night.

“This place totally rocks atmosphere wise!!! Awesome live music and such a great crowd of eclectic people. Just love it. I had such a good night. The drinks could be improved on though - i ordered a vodka and lemonade, and they gave it to me in one of those mini bottles so that when i had poured it into my glass it was only three quarters full. I had to ask them to top it up with soda water. and it didn;t even have any lemon in it. i didn't appreciate that.”

“Probably my favourite pub in London! It's so nicely decorated, the live music is lovely, and the range of beers is very impressive.”

“To sarah, No disrespect but do you actually know the first thing about beer? Maybe you should stick to the tourist ridden clone bars in the West End.”

“I was totally bemused that this pub was ranked amongst the worst pubs. It has a really unusual and interesting layout/decor and is almost unparalelled for variety and quality of drinks. If you only like mass produced and tasteless beer this place is not for you. If, however, you like drinks with individuality and taste then I can't recommend this place too highly. Service at the bar isn't the fastest in the world, but this is made up for by table service and the fact that the drinks are well worth waiting for!”

“For me this one of the worst bars in Covent Garden. The over-priced over-hyped beers are possibly the worst I have ever tasted. It was such a disappointment.”

“I used to go to this pub quite a lot, but gradually I became more and more disillusioned so now I go elsewhere.”

“This is a great place for those who like their beers and wines. The place not only does not do any of the usual tipples, but have a great alternative selection, esp Chiller from the US. Probably the only good US lager. Try some more exotic beers, like Crazy Ed's Chili Beer which is kinda hot! You can also get a taster platter for the more common beers to get your ideas of what you would like etc for not more than a fiver. All in all, a great bar/pub near to Covent Garden, that is a great tucked away place..”
