The Marquis Description
The Marquis was taken over by the Morton-Scott Pub Company, revamped and opened in Jan 2008. It's a family owned company by father and son. The bar is generally full in the evenings with local workers (nb it's directly opposite the local police station) and the occasional tourist drawn in. The staff are friendly and efficient and although it does get a little cramped for space its a good pub to have a drink in. They have incorporated organic, fair-trade, free range and local suppliers in their food menu.

“Work round the corner, and no its not the police station, and like coming to this pub for a pint or two. Floor space is fairly small but makes for a warm atmosphere. No crisps behind the bar - only olives or nachos to munch on... Small smoking alley out the back too.”

Food
The Marquis has a small but well formed food menu for reasonable prices given its WC2 postcode. This is definitely no gastropub, but the food is decent quality. Baguettes are standard and priced at around a fiver a pop, but are made with organic ingredients. Alternatively, you can opt for light bites in the form of bubble and squeak.
