“Canton used to be the equavalent of a chinese "greasy spoon" and was a great place to eat!!!
Tables were long and shared.... some of the simpler cantonese dishes were prepared in the window kitchen, and they had a dim sum chef who started after midnight so fresh dimsum could be eaten in the small hours.
The restaurant was open 24/7, and was used by all sorts of interesting characters from the theatres nearby and the casinos of London.
They were not licensed when I used to frequent it, but if you became a friend of the manager, you could get hot rice wine in a chinese tea pot :-)
I am sure they changed it all, putting proper tables in, and fancy lights/wallpaper but it may be worth trying this one time gem of an eaterie.
