Blind Spot Review

Book a table at Blind Spot

Top 10 things you need to know about Blind Spot:

1) Tucked away at the back of the ground floor of the St Martins Lane Hotel in Covent Garden, Blind Spot is just that: a blind spot. Accessible only behind a tea counter façade via a secret gold, hand-shaped door knob, this hidden cocktail bar is not easy to stumble on - but worth it when you do.

2) An extensive cocktail menu alludes to the tea trade of the British Empire. The Camellia is delicious: black tea infused Belvedere with Chambord, Aperol and raspberry purée. The mixologists certainly know what they're doing.

3) Bring a date, or someone to impress. Lit by candlelight, the low light gives a sexy, 1920’s speakeasy vibe.

4) The waiters are endlessly helpful. Whatever you like in a drink, they'll be able to suggest a perfect cocktail for you with surprising accuracy.

5) The bar menu is full of Asian-inspired nibbles to soak up your cocktails. Try baby squid with jalapeño mayonnaise, or scallop and pineapple carpaccio. Whilst the price tag is slightly above your usual bar snacks, there's a good reason why – don’t settle for pork scratchings ever again.

6) The crowd is a real mix. On a typical evening, expect to see gaggles of suited businessmen, friends congregating over cocktails, as well as a few dates. You'll be able to play everyone's favourite game – spot the Tinder date (there'll be a few).

7) Although upmarket, the bar is also seductively comfortable. Choose a cosy booth at the side of the bar, or relax in armchairs in the middle of the room.

8) Blind Spot wants to entertain you; expect a programme of live music throughout the week. Every Tuesday, you'll be serenaded by a live jazz trio who, believe us when we say, can play you anything.

9) With the buzz of Covent Garden and Leicester Square moments away, the bar is a refuge from London’s busy streets. It's worth paying a few extra pounds to not fight through the crowds for a drink.

10) Once you know it's there, you'll be racing to go back with anyone you can persuade to go with you. With cocktails priced from £13-£14, it's a pricey destination, but somewhere you'll want to go every time you're celebrating, or when someone else is paying.

Say goodbye to the midweek blues - live music sessions have arrived at speakeasy Blind Spot. With music ranging from swing to jazz, Latin to rock and much more, each week's Live Spot event offers something wholly unique. The tunes may vary, but one thing's for sure, your evenings just got a whole lot better.
One of London’s most exciting independent bands, the Second Sons have risen to international acclaim in 2016 after making their live debut in May of the same year. Described as “the band that may just save rock and roll” - Jocks & Nerds magazine, the Second Sons have enjoyed a slew of UK and international dates including dual performances at 2016’s Isle of Wight Festival as well as a main stage performance at the 2016’s Gibraltar Music Festival.

Join Second Sons as they perform a truly captivating and charismatic live set in Blind Spot. Dubbed London's finest soul and blues based rock and roll, they really are known as one of the most entertaining live acts in music to date.

And as Chris Kemsey says, Second Sons are the band that drill into your mojo and won't go away. We can get on board with that!
