2 Brydges Place Description

2 Brydges Place is the private members’ bar for those who don’t buy into the hype of exclusivity but instead seek solace and quality; comfortable rooms, cosy décor and a lack of pretence. Members also appreciate a good spot; 2 Brydges Place lies in the heart of the West End on St Martin’s in an atmospheric Georgian house.

With a membership fee of £275 a year plus a £75 registration fee, the club was started by Rod Lane as a retort to establishments where waiters were clicked at for attention. Rod teamed up with South American native Alfredo Fernandini to help realise the venture and a pretence

free club was founded.

Suitably, no papers or laptops are allowed after 6pm, phones are only allowed at certain ‘phone spots’ and food is fuss free, quality, English fare. Housed next door to the English National Opera and in the midst of theatre land, you may well bump into celebrated luvies and artistes, you will almost certainly enjoy the tranquillity in the day and the playful sociable nature of the clubs some 1,200 members, 80 of which can be housed at any one time. Membership is facilitated by being nominated by four current members.

“This is my go to club for a convivial evening, I've visited a few time with friends and family. It also saw the initiation of Provenance - a British Independent movie. I had arranged a dinner to talk about an idea. That idea became Provenance - currently nominated Best Film ,Best Actress and, Harry Macqueen one of our party that night is now nominated for Best leading actor at the Madrid International Film Festival 2017 . We all had a lovely dinner which put us all in the right mood for the ideas to flow. I look forward to many more such dinners. ”

“This club is very hidden away and its like a warren of rooms and staircases and so comfortable and welcoming, also the food is great and the people who work there are real xharacters too. I wish I could go more often, have been 3 times now. Used to work round the corner and never had a clue it was there, now they do breakfasts, v. good. Its very actors, media and musician types and totally chilled. They don't like attitude and do you know who I am stuff, which meana that some interesting people turn up to feel really private!”

“I totally love this place, its a bit old fashioned in a good time warp way with a feeling like being in a friends home but the food is better, it just feels safe and welcoming and you instantly feel a sense of belonging. Its very theatre, tv, music, arts oriented and I saw several known faces totally undisturbed and letting their guard down as no-one looked at them etc. This place doesn't even have a website! My friend who took me says its because they are a really private private members' club!”

“I was a guest there last Christmas and it was fantastic! At Christmas you could see the tree in Trafalgar Square out of the window next to Two Brydges own Christmas tree, that was amazing! ”
