The White Hart Review
Book a table at The White Hart
Located a short walk from Waterloo Station, The White Hart is an ideal spot for a post-work beverage. Nestled among streets that conjure up images of a bygone era of wartime London, this pub tries to retain an authentic old English pub decor while following a formula that is being adhered to in more and more modern venues.
Quirky, mismatched chairs accompany antique tables which sit next to Pac Man games. It gets busy early and quickly. Local residents and office workers file in to enjoy a beer chosen from an extensive list of continental and more exotic brews. Despite the tight squeeze and lack of leg room, it remains a friendly, calm atmosphere.
The dinner menu is lengthy and offers a range of safe options. We started with the calamari, which was really tasty and an excellent start to the meal as was the feta cheese and olives. For our main course we chose the Lamb Shank and Gnocchi and washed it down with a bottle of the house red, which was surprisingly easy to drink as is not always the case with a house wine. Portions are a generous size and can easily be shared between two people, dependent, of course, on how loud the hunger monster growls.
If hunger demands something lighter, sandwiches are also on offer and their burgers have a great reputation. The service certainly wasn't exceptional but for the type of place, it certainly wasn't terrible. Prices are typical of modern pub dinning. Starters begin at £4.50, mains at £6.80.
For an after work drink and bite to eat The White Hart is a safe option; if you're looking for restaurant style dinning then give it a miss. The White Hart is comfortable and if a decent choice of beer, wine and food is what you are looking for, it’s an ideal choice....read more

“For the love of god stay away from this place. The staff were so rude and the place is a joke. Appalling service, terrible food, totally over priced, and unless you really had no choice, you are still better off drinking Skol on the streets than setting foot in this hideous place!!”
