Le Gothique Description
Le Gothique is owned and run by it’s founder Mark Justin. Started in 1987 the restaurant is housed within South London’s most spectacular building. The high Victorian gothic masterpiece, The Royal Victoria Patriotic Building is set back from Trinity Road nestling on Wandsworth Common and can be approached via Fitzhugh Grove by car or John Archer Way by foot. Stepping through the rear courtyard entrance into a cobblestone yard the restaurant boasts that seemingly rare London option of secure and free off street parking.
The restaurant itself is accessed via the Gothic bar. The bar is open to
This really is a destination venue where your intrepidation will be richly rewarded. A genuinely independent and family run concern Le Gothique is quirky and most definitely out of the ordinary. Proprietor Mark Justin, if asked, gives a tour of the cloistered garden, A.L.R.A. Great Hall and spooky cellars. Head chef, Jean-Marie Martin has presided over the kitchens for 16 of the 18 years the restaurant has been open while manageress Joanne Thorp and Head Waiter Emile have clocked up 15 years between them. Le Gothique is a restaurant where you will actually be waited upon by the same members of staff as on your last visit.

“It can be quite overpriced, and the quality of food isn't great. It's a bit like a lottery, sometimes you get lucky with the food but most of the time you don’t. I wouldn't recommend eating here though, there are so many other great places to eat in London.”

“Excellent pub! The building has to be one of the best in London to drink in. Almost feels like you're in Bavaria when approaching. The pub is cosy and friendly and a real treat!”

“I have dined several times at this delightful family run establishment and attended parties hosted by friends of mine. On each occasion the ambiance, food and service have been excellent. The delightful garden is is without equal for al fresco dining. The 3 course set menu at £21.95 includes a good selection of popular French classic dishes such as Provencal fish soup, beef bourguignonne and my personal favourite dessert Tart Tatin. Each dish is individually priced but go for the 3 courses as you in effect get the dessert for free. Great atmosphere in winter or summer but worth checking if they are holding a private function before going”

“I wouldn't set foot in this place again as a result. If the calibre of service at a venue is important to you I would urge you to go elsewhere - it is quite simply dreadful at this place.”

Food
The food at Le Gothique is predominantly French as one would expect with two frenchmen in the kitchen. But do not leave thinking you have to partake of the three course feasts on offer in the restaurant. Lighter meals are served both lunchtime and early evening in the bar.

Drinks
A full bar selection with 3 real ales also available. Good Beer Guide 2010. Interesting selection of vintage Armagnacs
