So Review

Best for: black cod in miso; scallop and daikon salad; and sushi (of course).

Great: a bit of Zen time out from Piccadilly Chaos (sorry, Circus) and to escape the Believe It Or Not World of Ripley’s.

Two things have made my winter this year. The first is Kate Bush’s latest album, 50 Words For Snow, which has been a firm fixture on a continuous reshuffled loop in my ‘Recently Played’ iPhone Playlist for the past month. The second is a supper I had with my friend, San, at the Soho restaurant with the rather apt name, So. What better way to honour my two winter highlights by infusing my thoughts on So with my favourite song on Kate Bush’s album (handy that So rhymes with Snow isn’t it!). For best effects try and imagine Stephen Fry narrating the list.

50 WORDS FOR SO (yes I know there’s more than 50 words below but this is still a review after all!)

5 Japanese-European
6 infusion

Come on San, you’ve got 44 to go, come on San, you’ve got 44 to go. Come on San, you’ve got 44 to go, come on San you’ve got 44 to go.

7 minimalist traditional Japanese decor

Come on San, you’ve got 32 to go, come on San, you’ve got 32 to go. Come on now, you’ve got 32 to go, come on now you’ve got 32 to go. Don’t you know there’s this place in Soho. Let me hear your 50 words for So.

Come on San, just 22 to go, come on San, just 22 to go. Come on San, just you hanging round Soho. Come on now, just 22 to go. Come on now, just 22 to go, let me hear your 50 words for So.

“I'm so glad I found this restaurant which is hiddenin the heart of Soho (blink and you may miss it). I will never step in to another sushi bar chain like Itsu and Yo! Sushi ever again. Yes, conveyor belts are fun to watch and the instant service is handy for a quick lunch, but So wins hands down on food, service and tranquil atmosphere.”
