Little Italy Review

The big brother of Bar Italia, Little Italy has all of the family character, is equally popular and parties just as hard. A two-levelled restaurant, serving a top quality (and top priced) selection of Italian cuisine is fronted by a smaller bar area, decorated with monochrome photographs of Italy's most famous nationals, and a few metallic tables & seats to reward the early comers. Fat, juicy olives are served with drinks - a nice touch, though that doesn't necessarily excuse the inflated prices. Later on in the night, the tables are discarded to make space for the whole of London's Italian contingent to enjoy the late licence and the cool, Mediterranean atmosphere.

“What an awful place. I've never been for dinner but as an after hours club it's woeful. A fiver to get in, the prices are super steep, the staff are a bit arrogant, the tunes are far too cheesy, the crowd are boring ludites, and the stairs to the toilets are far too steep. My girlfriend walked down the wet stairs the other night, fell, and broke her ankle. Why make high-heeled girls who have had a drink or two walk down steep stairs when there's a cloakroom on the ground floor? Got that back to front surely!?”

“Do not ever go to this restaurant. Food - Very small portions that taste absolutely disgusting. Service - Trailer trash waitresses that don't know what they are doing. Ambience - The place was extremly dark, hot and stuffy, trying to come across classy but failing miserably. PRICE - £60 = two course + wine . What a rip off! And think you can go to Galvin Bistro for £44 which is one of the best restaurants in town! By far the worse meal of my life. ”

“Visit here at your peril! I went on Saturday night at the recommendation of a friend. We didn't eat but were going for the bar and for a dance. The bouncers are unbelievably rude. We were physically and verbally abused by them. Bearing in mind that I was with several other females (no males in the group), they pushed us around, threatened to hit us, swore at us, made vulga insinuations and were generally a good representative to many of the non UK national bouncers out there. Little Italy should be ashamed. NB once inside the place was beyond pokey with a bad atmosphere. All in all an extremely poor venue.”

“Wow such good reviews for such a bad restaurant. The service was awful, the worst I have ever ever had. We kept being told off by the waitress for simple things like pouring water in a wine glass. Even the table next to us were being told off and we were all there to celebrate an occasion. Food was less than average. For the money we paid I was expecting fine dining. The amount of food we got was fine dining (tiny servings). Nothing special, if they charged £5 for the main dish I wouldn't of complained, but it was a set menu for £40 and they served rubbish. You the reader deserve better food and a better experience, stay away.”

“Having been to this restaurant more times than i can remember, i think the food is top notch and worth every penny. The staff are friendly, helpful and have a good time. As for the music, drinks and friendly chat, it continues long into the early hours in the morning and is a perfect place to spend your evening, either with girlfriends or a loved one.”

“The service is attentive although a little too much - they took my partner's plate away before I had finished eating. The meals were average and arrived quickly - good if in a hurry but does raise concerns as to its freshness. And the seating is a little too cosy! There are plenty of better Italian places at half the price!”

“I have been to this restaurant numerous times for client dinners or that special date. The atmosphere is fantastic and the waiting staff are always alert, yet not intrusive. The table layout is cozy so so may feel a bit cramped. Especially if you order a few different side dishes. The only down side to this restaurant can be the prices but if you are used to spending £70-100+ for 2 people then it wont make any difference. Highly recommended if you want to impress a first date or take your partner out on a special date.”

“Avoid this.. having been there recently on a few occations based on a friends reccommendation, this place sucks; if you are over 50 and want to find other people around 50 years of age, and dance to 50's music or italian boleros then do it. Also do it if you are willing to pay around 8 quid for a tiny drink. Otherwise avoid... the bar staff is unfriendly and agressive & they come to take away your glass before you have finished your drink. Very much a "TGI Friday" experience; get as many in to eat, throw them out, get next bunch in etc. Can't believe I actually went there twice... :(”
