Karaoke Box Description

Pay for a both for your karaoke extravaganza.Established in February 1997, Karaoke Box Soho was previously a Japanese restaurant (not a brothel, according to local urban legend!). Owned by a Japanese chef, he loved singing so much he turned his own restaurant into private karaoke rooms, and never looked back.

Set in Soho's laid-back Frith Street, with six rooms to choose from and without a bar to get in the way, it's a cozy, welcoming place for office workers to unwind - and for everyone else to just party!

Celebrity visitors include Kate Moss, Keith Richards, Björk, Jude Law, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Johnny Vegas, Alex James (Blur) and Joe Sumner (Fiction Plane).

“Two of us went to the Karaoke Box on Saturday night & has the most fantastic time. Being allowed to sing at the top of your voice to whatever you wanted without being told to shut up was just brilliant. Ok, the booths are not the most palatial in the world but you're not there to sit and admire the suroundings - you're there to have a good time & that you certainly do. The staff were great, drinks reasonably priced & excellent value for money. I'd recommend the Karaoke Box to anyone who is after a fun night out.”

“Booked an hour on Sat 18.9.04. Wasn''t sure what to expect but had a great time. The main problem with the venue is the exterior, it isn''t very clear where you go in! Our room hire was £15 per hour (5 person room) plus £3 per person entrance fee and we had such a laugh we booked a further 30 mins. Bought the obligatory drink but weren''t hassled to buy more (which we did anyway). Definately recommend for a proper Japanese style night out.”

“Reluctantly I agreed to go to, as I'm not in the habit of breaking windows, but I'm glad I did. The selections of songs was brilliant and varied, and the equipment was very easy to use. However, when we arrived people leaving were moaning saying that it was over-prices and the service was terrible, not exactly the best first impression. The next thing we were told that the price we were told over the phone (£25 per hour) was wrong, instead it was £35 per hour. But the 9 of us all agreed and it cost about £10.70 each for 2 hours. When we got in our room, the floor was as sticky as glue factory, the seats were wet, and the remnants of the previous occupants had not been cleared away. The food was very overpriced at £6 for garlic bread alone, and the drinks faired even worse, espectally when you saw the 2 litre bottles of coke as you came in. But in the end these, gripes did not ruin the night and we all had a really good time. The night is what you make it and as long as you can put up with the all the problems you're sure to have a good time.”

“This is the best place in the world for fun nights out. I have dragged numerous reluctant friends here and without exception they have all fallen in love with it. You don't go for the food or drink - just for the sheer pleasure of singing 'bat out of hell' at top volume. Its like the journey home from a school trip when you are all singing on the back of the bus.”

“This place is great. The floor is scummy, you don't want to sit on the sofas with bare legs for fear of I don't know what, the walls are sweaty and the wine is gross. But it is such fun. Further to comments below, the staff are as friendly as you are to them and considering most people turn up drunk as skunks they cope pretty well. And value for money? Well, if I'm paying £19 for a 7 person room, it works out at under £3 per hour - how can that be bad? I fell in love with the place after my first visit and now have the number programmed into my mobile!”

“Go here for food or drink and yes, it will be over priced and the atmosphere may not be great. Go for karaoke, on the other hand, and you could well have one of the best night's of the year!”

“If you love karaoke then this is one of the only place in london that does it. The problem is I think that thats why its so bad. They know that they can get people in. But after paying nearly £90 for one hour for 12 people then been told we all have to order one drink each and then being frequently pested to order the right amount of drinks. You may aswell rent/buy a karaoke machine it would be a much better alternative. The staff are so so rude its unbelievable”
