McQueen Lounge Bar & Club Description
Some of us are a shade too young to have truly appreciated Indiana native and movie legend Steve McQueen. Nevertheless, we're quite certain that we'll be investing in this tribute to the iconic celebrity, a cocktail bar in Shoreditch, that is also a Shoreditch club. The lounge is tastefully decorated in classy black leather sofas and a polished bar that works

“I spent the weekend in London visiting from Scotland and a friend of mine recommended McQueen for a night out. My girlfriend and I had an amazing time, the Restaurant is so cool and very good value for money, friendly staff and great cocktail too. We'll be back!”

“It's good to know that McQueen is above the average of all those 'grunge' bars and old pubs in the Old Street area. Good quality food, friendly service and a nice cocktail list that keeps you going. A great option in Shoreditch!”

“Went for the first time on Saturday and generally had a really fun night... Good atmosphere and music!! The bar upstairs is a bit more pretentious and one of the barmen I could honestly say was one of the rudest I have come across which unfortunately lets the place down a bit as you don't need that on a night out!!!!”

“To be fair, the bar looks nice and the club is great.
The main problem is the staff: they are rude and they try to overcharge you. If you don't pay, they start intimidating you by calling the bouncers. They would not want to let me go so I ended up paying the outrageous bill to get out and then called my bank to cancel the payment.
By far, the worst place I've been in London.”

“There's no denying that the cocktails are some of the best cocktails in Shoreditch, but the decor and the whole 'City' vibe is just a little out of place in Shoreditch. This bar needs to be about half a mile down towards Liverpool Street, Moorgate and Bank. It's meant for suits and people who get the Essex train into London for a night out. Brown leather absolutely everywhere - come on people! Looked good in the 90s. The previous incarnation - Tabernacle? - was much better. What happened to the disco floor downstairs? Now it's just pictures of naked ladies and shot girls wandering about. Trashy. Still, good place to satrt an evening for a quiet cocktail.”

“I've never experienced such unreasonable behaviour from the door staff. I went here for a friend's birthday and got there about ten to nine yet they claimed it was 9 and charged us £10 each to get in after some arrogant and unpleasant behaviour. The bar service was slow, the toilets were disgusting and the whole atmosphere was ruined by the horrible staff.”

“I must say i totally disagree with the previous review I went in last Friday 23/04/10 for the first time I had heard all the hipe about this place so I was keen to take a look, i found the venue cool and trendy, geared around the king of cool steve mcqueen, the staff was friendly and efficient, there was a good range of cocktails available , and beers wines etc. I found the prices to be cheap considering how cool this venue was . the entertainment was different with live cabaret show and a host of different djs playing all types of music from the past and present, a great atmosphere all around I would totally recommend this place and i cant wait to see the restaurant as if it is anything like the bar and club it will be amazing.”

“Loved it. The coolest bar I have been to in years with really helpful and friendly staff and the drinks are surprisingly cheap for such a swanky place. Went to see friend's new band play downstairs and was really impressed by the mix of indie band venue and 1960s glamour. v cool.”

“McQueens has recently been reopened as it's new persona, but don't be fooled... this is not what The Tabernacle used to be. It is, in fact, absolutely the worst bar we have been in to in the few years. Over-priced, rude and completely inefficient service, I even had the pleasure of being personally threatened by the owner when trying to mention the shocking service. We arrived at 9pm and waited 15 minutes at the front of the bar before being served. Mentioning this to the owner, who was roped in to working behind the bar, we were then told that he didn't care and that we were making trouble for ourselves. All of our friends were left waiting outside from disorganisation with their "guest list" which was unbelievably badly operated. Door staff managed to over charge everyone quite conveniently as well.... so good for the bar I suppose. Nobody bothered drinking anything as it took so long to get a drink, while at some stages up to seven staff were placed behind the bar either talking to each other or wiping glasses.... while a bar full of people stood around getting irritable. Avoid this place at all costs. It is absolutely awful, they have no idea about how to run a bar, and the customer service received by the arrogant and aggressive owner is a disgrace......”
