One Paradise Road (Bar, Restaurant)

How many times have you been out in Richmond and headed down to one of the heaving pubs and bars on the river front and spent the night knocking elbows, having beer spilt over you and having to put up with punters who’ve had one too many? When all the time you could’ve been in a sweet bar not too far away.

One Paradise Road has been in business since 1992 which surprised us - we’ve known the area for over for years and hadn’t come across this funky local bar until recently. With a random layout of chairs and tables on the wooden floors leading to the central bar downstairs, and a small private champagne lounge upstairs, One Paradise has the appearance of an original wine bar but with an atmosphere more akin to your local pub – a perfect place to have a meal or read the papers in comfort during week days and buzzing nights with good background tunes on the weekends. Also every Sunday there are live Rock and Roll Nights. Unfortunately the Sunday we went, the musicians didn’t turn up – just to keep you on your toes.

Regarding the menu: Mediterranean oriented, and rather delicious, perhaps not the cheapest but well worth it. For those of you starting to worry about how to keep warm over the winter period, One Paradise Road hosts a Blind Date evening for over 25’s. A small mention about age - you young lads are not going to find draft beer, live sport or that many short skirts here, so stay away, you won’t appreciate it and you won’t be appreciated.
