Gaucho Tower Bridge Review

Book a table at Gaucho Tower Bridge

Top 10 things to know about Gaucho Tower Bridge restaurant:

1) The language of love has a rich, colourful vocabulary. Its vibrancy takes many forms, all ensnare romantic humanoids under an alluring spell.

2) The senses of taste and smell are foremost in evoking ardent desires. They manifest in clever guises: a rich, punchy, high altitude, Familia Marguery Casa Malbec wine; a refreshingly light, zesty Aperol aperitif cocktail capable of resuscitating any midweek lull; or a sea trout ceviche muddled with pink grapefruit and fennel, so moreish it’s hard to resist as simply a starter.

3) Oh, the eyes need stimuli too! A fruitful sense of sight brings palpations to any lustful heart. Astutely sentimental souls request upstairs window tables, so blessed with iconic views of London: water fountains; Tower Bridge; River Thames; Tower of London. Looking inwardly, the dark mirrors, cow print luxury, and private room (for those who prefer seclusion) strangely give love the appearance of a Berlin nightclub…

4) ...and the throbbing beat of House music proliferating love’s sense of hearing might coerce participants into dancing, were they not engrossed with dinner.

5) A heady mix of romance cannot exist without love’s innate sense of style, either; in the sleek industrial menus, immaculately-dressed staff, and plates of food resembling gallery-mounted fine art. T’s crossed, i’s dotted.

6) Embrace love’s sensual pleasure of texture, of exotic flesh, lean gargantuan Argentinean steaks, spiral cut, slow grilled and rubbed in a coat of chimichurri sauce. That, and perfectly crisped, beef dripping chunky chips cooked with pillow-soft interiors. Go on, cuddle up.

7) Love loves surprises, too. For my indecisive (yet purely platonic) companion, the seasonal food and wine menu was troublesome: big, daunting and filled with an army of starters and more than 200 bins of wine. The guidance and recommendations from staff wielding chopping boards of meats was, therefore, a delight.

8) Love, it seems, is not so comfortable for tall people, though. We both stand taller than 6 feet, and prefer our knees at right angles when seated. Perhaps booster seats are needed for giants.

9) There is a hefty price to pay for this kind of love, but at £38, the sizable steaks offer delectable value for money.

10) Ultimately, no matter who you try to woo - favourite client, future-girlfriend, forgiving mother - love will conquer all barriers with a visit to this, the most splendidly romantic of Gauchos.
