Babylon at The Roof Gardens Review

Book a table at Babylon at The Roof Gardens

Top 10 things you need to know about Babylon restaurant:

1) Celebrating a special birthday? Wow their pants off at a destination restaurant where the hanging gardens dangle 100ft above the busy London streets.

2) Is there an important anniversary circled in your calendar? Impress them; book a table at a romantic rooftop restaurant, where floor-to-ceiling windows allow views over the Royal Albert Hall, The Shard, The London Eye and Battersea Power Station. Smoochy smoochy.

3) Confused by restaurants offering dauntingly long menus? Put faith in a refreshingly succinct menu: plenty of choice for vegetarians; a 3-star champion status from the Sustainable Restaurant Association; and a helpful allergen’s key. Oooh.

4) Had a hard week filled with spreadsheets, meetings, and meetings about spreadsheets? Sink into the softest, most comfortable seat your bum will ever love. Don’t even bother making decisions about what to eat and drink. The cosmopolitan, swanky-accent restaurant staff are experts, so let them do it for you.

5) Is your business tantalisingly close to capturing a key new client? Seal the deal with sun-drenched afternoon cocktails on the balcony bar. Get them woozy on splendour and they’re putty in your hands.

6) Need to shut your +1 up for a while? Deliver unto them the green apple, South African white wine called The Weather Station in union with Scottish scallops and for 30 sweet seconds you’ll have peace and quiet.

7) Organising an intimate wedding dinner for a dozen guests? Secure a private dining room that has its own waiter, private balcony, and audio capabilities so you can play embarrassing soundbites during the all-important speech.

8) Simply celebrating the fact it’s Thursday? Opt for a decadent combo of live jazz classics; an aromatic, sweet glass of KungFu Girl Riesling from Washington State; and a humdinger of a starter: gold-painted chicken liver parfait, deep-fried quail’s eggs, and Cab-Sauv crème fraiche - possibly the best you’ve ever tasted. Darling, why should Friday have all the fun?!

9) Feeling like the night is young and not ready to put head on hay? After dinner, take the stairs to the nightclub and garden on the floor below.

10) Whatever the occasion, and of a quality that requires a special occasion price tag, Babylon at the Roof Gardens restaurant is the answer.

“This is my favourite restaurant in the whole of London and I love going here. The bar is great for cocktails too. It may be fairly expensive but then that's what boyfriends are for!”

“Roof Gardens Lovely, Lovely place. Beautiful gardens, polite & professional staff. Food was Excellent! 2010 2Courses £18 and 3 courses £21. I had a 3 Course with wine, being a Vegetarian I was amazed at the brilliance of the courses, high standard, freshness and great taste, beautifully presented, incredible standard of food & quality for that price, and for this part of London. Also, when warm & Sunny, great seating area outside with great views over London. Highly recommended, and I want to make this a regular eating place from now on.”

“I love this place! A real treat and fun too. Without being pretentious. The staff were sweet and obliging. We had the set menu. The portions look small but there's plenty of food. The cooking a cut above your average good restaurant. Also great that there are tables on the balcony for when the weather is nice.”

“Expensive for the quality I expected but did not receive. My wife orderd a medium steak, when it came it was blue, we asked for it to be taken back and recooked, when it came back again it was still rare. My wife does not like blood on her plate. Before our meal we had drinks and a walk in the gardens that we found to be quite pleasent but expensive. After the meal we asked where the nightclub was and was told it was on the ground floor. We then proceded to the reception were we had to pay £10 each. No problems with that I thought until I asked the way to the restaurant and was told it was on the sixth floor where we had just come from. In fact we paid £10 to go back to a place where we were not impressed with the so called nightclub. To round it off the same three drinks had gone from £11.50 to £18.50 NO I WILL NOT BE RETURNING. Peter Jackson.”
