The Dove Description
The Dove is featured in these Guides:
The biggest claim to fame for the Dove is that the Poet James Thompson apparently penned Rule Britannia whilst enjoying a few ales in this lovely riverside pub. Unfortunately this was the last pint he had as he caught a boat from The Dove, caught a chill and died! Whether you are into your literary history or not this pub is worth a visit simply because it holds a Guinness Book of Records record for the smallest bar in the UK – fortunately they have a few bars. There is also prime viewing of the annual Oxford & Cambridge boat race as the boats come out of the Surrey Bend.

“Décoration pas terrible à part la terrace sur la Tamise. Repas cher et sorti de table en ayant encore fin. Il y a beaucoup mieux à Hammersmith comme pub.”

“Nice old pub with friendly and efficient staff tried a few different ales which the staff were happy and willing to suggest - stood at the bar and was made feel welcome. Will visit again and recommend to friends.”

“The Dove is a nice little place to eat and have drinks, and relax, surrounded by recollections, and history, and the Great River settings. T. S. Eliot's phrase on History being "Now and England" sounds very true there.”

“It's a good oldy worldy pub but don't go there to eat. Service took over 40 mins. My partner had a steak and ale pie which had more of a shortcrust pastry than the nice light fluffy puff pastry and the gravy was more like water. I had a grilled salmon salad. It was in fact a plate of salad with a few flakes of salmon - I would bet that there was perhaps less than 100g (ie less than half a pack of M&S salmon flakes). Each of these was £8.95, so an absolute rip-off.”

“I would highly recommend this pub.
Sitting beside the Thames with outodoor seating a great location for a summer's Sunday afternoon. During the winter with the low ceilings and fireplaces makes you forget the day's troubles. Always packed for the Boat Race.
The Guinness is always good and the staff helpful. Has a good menu with good sized portions.
The only drawback is the walk from Hammersmith Station but helps you to sober up on the way back while taking in the views of Hammersmith Bridge at night.”
