Trafalgar Tavern Description
Trafalgar Tavern is featured in these Guides:
In Victorian London there was one pub that represented the best of Britain’s naval might and cultural standing. A place where William Gladstone and Charles Dickens could be seen dining side-by-side. An oasis away from the industrial sprawl, but yet at the centre of an Empire. Exactly 170 years later the Trafalgar Tavern still stands in the Greenwich Maritime World Heritage Site, and it remains one of London’s most essential public houses.
Built on the site of the Old George Inn in the year of Victoria’s ascension, 1837, this stunning late Regency building boasts splendid bay windows with elegant
The Trafalgar Tavern is quite simply a tribute to Old London, a place were the past can live on in the present. The specially commissioned statue of Lord Nelson outside is testament to this, denoting the respect the owners have for the pub’s unique history while offering the luxury of modern events and dining.

“This pub is great for those lazy Sunday afternoons. A short stroll around Greenwich, perhaps taking in the museum, before staking a claim to a table near the bay window with an impressive view of the Isle of Dogs and the O2. The roasts are adequate in quality and generous in portion. Make sure you get a spot early though, it is very popular with migrating tourists.”

“on a sunday night the trafalgar tavern is one of the best places you can be. walking upstairs you can hear the sound of the band warming up and having a pre-gig jam. the whole place is full of people young and old that have come to listen to this superb band who play music from pop to jazz, funk to rock. thay interact with their audience and the atmosphere is buzzing. there is no hostility or "clicky" feelings. no need to dress up or down or worry what you look like, because on a sunday everyone is there to have a good time...and get pissed!”
