Top 10 things to know about the Long Bar:
1) Whether stopping in for a quick drink or settling in for the evening, stop in for a spectacular cocktail at the Long Bar at the Sanderson Hotel.
2) It’s a glamorous location that will knock the socks off any other date spot. The hotel is based in the centre of Fitzrovia, but stepping inside the bar, you could be anywhere from Tel Aviv to Cannes.
3) The Long Bar itself is a dramatic, 80-foot structure that lends a luxury nightclub feel to the space. The atmosphere seems to attract a range of businessmen and young, trendy professionals, looking to impress a date or client. People-watching at its juiciest.
4) Drinks aren’t cheap, but you wouldn’t want them to be; the stand-out Hollywood flavour combinations in each cocktail are well worth the money.
5) The staff are welcoming and make you feel at home from the minute you saunter through the door. No request is too much, whether it be an off-menu classic cocktail, or their recommendation for a cocktail.
6) Hot tip: whilst you’ll get the ambience of the Long Bar sitting at the beautiful bar itself, you’re also welcome to take drinks onto the terrace outside, backing onto the hotel’s sensational Courtyard Garden. The terrace is open all year round – visit in winter for cosy fires and blankets, or on a balmy summer’s evening to enjoy the heat.
7) Each cocktail is beautifully created by the bar’s mixologists, using exotic ingredients and paying particular attention to garnishes such as freeze-dried strawberries and herbs.
8) A must-try cocktail is the Poire Three Ways, a celebration of all things pear in three mini martinis, each one more delicious than the last: Grey Goose La Poire; Kraken spices and pear; and lastly, Meszcal, cacao and pear puree.
9) The bar food is the perfect accompaniment to any drink. The Sanderson Chicken Club Sandwich, a pimped-up version of the classic, combines tender fried chicken with soft avocado, crispy bacon and roasted tomatoes. The portion is big enough for two, but it’s so delicious that you won’t want to share.
10) Once you finally leave, you’ll want to go back time and time again – the Long Bar is the perfect combination of great drinks, great food and everything you need for a great evening....read more

“If you don''t like exclusive pretentious overstyled and overpriced places don''t bother going to the Long bar.
I happen to like all three of these things if they have one advantage: quality. Now it would be churlish to say that the Long bar doesn''t have a very good cocktail menu. They fall short of the #1 spot but are somewhere at the lower end of the top 10 in my opinion. Very much in the lab style the drinks are full of fresh fruits and numerous ingredients, however the menu is much shorter, which is just as well since the place is absolutely rammed any night of the week.
To be critical one drink I had was insipid, some sort of strawberry and lemongrass fusion. I tasted the strawberry. Enough said. Too many of the drinks shared ingredients for my liking, too much peach for a start, but since the bar is just a double sided frontbar with no central unit that''t not surprising. Space is at a premium. A shame, since I rather like to view what spirits they have on offer, and there wasn''t a spirits section in the menu.
A Tequila cocktail with Ameretto and citrusy flavours worked very well, bringing out the Agave beautifully and the other drinks I had were interesting and well balanced too.
The service wan''t lightning but considering how many people there were in the place I''m not really surprised. I didn''t have to wait longer than five minutes between drinks so I think it would be unfair to complain about that.
I certainly would complain about the price though. Considering the average cost of ingredients at the Long Bar isn''t any more than it is at Lab, Match or any of the other top bars in london £10 a drink is daylight robbery. They are catering for a very different clientele than those other places I mentioned however, and I suppose the styling by Starck cost a fair whack. Still, for £10 I expect a drink laced with gold dust and super premium spirits. Jose Cuervo doesn''t cut it!
To sum up the Long Bar is well worth a visit if rich London trendies don''t annoy you too much and your wallet is feeling particularly fat, but unless you really need to impress there are better places to go for value.”
