1)  Visiting a world cuisine restaurant such as Foley's can sometimes feel like taking a seat in a Miss Universe pageant. You’re paraded by an eclectic collection of exotic beauties, which you initially judge at face value. Yet further down the line you probe for something more meaningful, such as provenance and constitution.

2)  Foley's is well placed for their target audience being so close to the beating heart of the media universe in Fitzrovia, where slick presentation is de rigueur in daily routines.

3)  Upstairs is a cosy, tidy dining space with a smattering of Andy Warhol prints. Downstairs is the catwalk of dreams with an open kitchen and chefs displaying their culinary artistry.

4)  The first candidate to consider for the pageant is Miss Goan. With immaculately picked white crab meat and rich, intense brown crab bisque, there is something for everyone with this crowd-pleaser.

5) Not to be outdone by her Goan sister, Miss India is presented in the form of sticky pork marinated in the ever-popular spice, tamarind. The use of buttermilk helps to tenderise the meat even further for this hearty, flavour-packed dish.

6)  The Arabic representation is the ever-reliable aubergine. With careful, slow roasting, it has a silky, smooth texture. The addition of pomegranate, chilli lime yoghurt, date molasses, feta and puffed quinoa make it a texturally complex affair.

7)  On the other end of the spectrum, the light, delicate offering from the East: a Vietnamese summer roll. The translucent skin encapsulating the delicate cured plaice fillet. This is more than a hint of the Orient with the use of mango, purple yam, Thai basil and edamame.

8)  What's the best beverage to savour whilst you deliberate on which is the finest? Their own take on the bloody Mary, which includes strong spices such as tamarind and pickled ginger.

9)  Who is compère to this grand gathering of the world’s best cuisine? It's none other than Mitz Vora, who was Sous Chef at the sensational Palomar.

10) To get a seat at this pageant, booking is strongly advised due to their limited floor space. Even their breakfast food service is rumoured to be one of the busiest in Central London.
