“Baroque is the best place to go in Ealing - friendly, free to get in, open late, good cocktails and great food - it's my new local! There's a real mix of customers but at the weekend we had a banging night, the DJ played a good mix of funky & R&B - loved it - highly recommend the mojito - has to be the best outside central London! We'll be back”

“Was unfortunate enough to find this place on saturday night, it was almost empty, and after being in there for 20 mins we could see why. The waitress was extremely rude and the decor could definately do with a face lift. This place doesn't know what it wants to be, a restaurant or a bar. Was very disappointed as did enjoy this place in the past, but it has really gone downhill! I will not be going here again, avoid at all costs!”

“After reading some of these comments I feel I had to add my thoughts. My friends and I had the best night ever at the Kiwi Kitchen. Thank you guys, the service was friendly, helpful and attentive. We were quite a demanding group! the food was awesome and better than we expected, it was also really nice that they bothered with letting large groups in, we'd tried to book for 20 of us in three other restaurants all of whom turned us away - guess it's too much work for some! Not the Kiwi's though, even though we couldn't all sit on one table, they didn't mind us moving around and it was a great night! We'll be back. If you book online it does say tables will only be held for 15 minutes!!! ”

“I am a fellow kiwi and found the food to be excellent and well presented however overpriced for the area. Portion size could increase by 10% to reflect these prices as unfortunately my English friends left feeling humgry and a little disgruntled at paying over the odds - although all agreed the food was superb. The staff were friendly and welcoming however not all were briefed on kiwi food despite a very informative menu. I asked for a lemon and paeroa and got a blank look until I said L&P. The decor could do with improving as the seats were ripped and lacked a kiwi theme that could be introduced by tree ferns, picture frames with NZ history and native plants and animals around the room. A childrens menu would be beneficial and discounted meals for local businesses which are always looking for new and interesting lunch and dinner venues. I would love to revisit with my family but honestly couldn't afford to do so unless the prices came down a few quid and a children's menu is introduced.”

“I booked a table for 10 people on friday for saturday at 7.30, unfortunately half my guests were an hour late however there still 2 empty tables so its not like the place is that popular. The mid thirties blond and highly strung female in charge of the restaurant became very rude and sarcastic when I informed her of my guests delay, firstly asking whether I actually told my guests of the time and then remarking that obviously they did not wear watches. She threatened to charge me for unused seats which is a complete joke as a threat and also threatened to cancel which I politely accepted. Neither my guests or myself will ever go there again and that night we spent over £300. Its funny how a couple of years ago we used to go there for the exceptional cocktails and really friendly staff almost every saturday. Its dying a slow death and unfortunately this member of staff is the cancer. By the way I used to manage clubs and cocktail bars in the west end for 15 years and I never saw or experienced such a smelly attitude to customers who could have easily walked out before spending any money. Maybe afew years ago she could use her blue eyes and her blond to charm drunk morons, not any longer dear.”

“As an ex-pat, I'll pay over the odds for a taste from home. But when it's not my home, I have to judge a restaurant on more standard criteria. The food is beautifully presented and obvious care has gone into sourcing fresh ingredients and quality meats. But it was served lukewarm and without much on the side. The cocktails were similarly inventive, but at 6 quid each, were neither expertly mixed nor were particularly strong. Anyhow, on the whole though, the food's good and it's authentic Kiwi cuisine - which I understand is hard to find in London. The service is okay (friendly, but not terribly professional), the music was fun, and there's booths for larger groups - which is always good for a night out with mates. My main complaint with The Kiwi Kitchen, though, is that it's like eating food from a really good gastropub in a Puzzle Bar. Also, from my viewpoint, it's dead expensive. A starter, a main and a drink will set you back more than it will at most good gastropubs - and even at some of London's finer restaurants. It's like Andrew Edmunds without the charm - and with a laminated menu. I've never had better Kiwi food anywhere else, but I've had better food in a better environment for less cost in many places elsewhere. I'd certainly say go if you're interested in Kiwi cuisine, but now that my curiosity is satisfied, I doubt that I will be returning.”

“This place has to be a 10/10 i loved every second i spent in the kiwi kitchen, AND THE FOOD - my god out of this world! The service i received from the young kiwi waiter was second to none, he took us through every aspect of the menue, history of New Zealand cooking and even sang us happy birthday. What a place srongly recommend you go there. Cheers guys.”

“I dined at the kiwi kitchen along with 3 others on 23rd decmeber 2006. I had great expectations as i had heard many mixed reviews about the place but also beause i am a kiwi and just wanted great "home" food. All i can say is the food is fantastic... but the place was a bit of a let down. Its a mix between a bar, bar and grill and a restaurant.. which would go down very well in NZ, but over here i think diners are confused as to what sort of establishment it is.. up market or casual... there are not many "in the middle" establishments or brasserie type eating places overe here.. .and it confuses people i think..... the food is just far too good to be served in the environment it is... smarten up the place, get rid of the bar attire, bar service and i think they will have a winning combination.”

“We had a fantastic time at the kiwi kitchen on Saturday. The staff were very attentive and the food was top notch - and very reasonably priced. The Paua fritter was just like back home and the lamb shank has to be the best lamb I've tasted outside the North island of NZ. Keep up the good work guys, you're truly bringing a slice of kiwiana to the UK!”

“Had a lovely evening here on Saturday - didn't eat, but we are planning on going back to eat next week. Superb atmosphere, great DJ, impressive cocktails (esp. the Makula Berry one - hope I have the name right - raspberry, vodka, honey liqueur). Like drinking cranacan :D Highly recommended. ”

“I found the experience of dining at the Kiwi Kitchen embarassing, although the food was extremely tasty, I had the venison and I have to say I have had bigger entrees than the main served to me. I have dined in many restaurants in London, and found the service a joke. As a New Zealander I pride myself on our friendly nation. This was not evident at the Kiwi Kitchen! I can not believe that there are no NZ beers on the drinks menu and the entire restaurant feels pokey and cramped. What was meant to be an enjoyable evening, turned out to be a disappointment. The menu was very limited. ”

“Once a brilliant bar, Baroque has gone downhill of late. It once served the most fantastic cocktails but now due to staff incompetence, cheaper ingredients and plastic glasses the cocktails are now substandard. However at around £8 each they are no cheaper. Preferential treatment is given to diners of the Kiwi Kitchen. As a drinker I find the staff downright rude and unpleasant and the surroundings cramped and uncomfortable. As a long term customer of Baroque I am thoroughly disgusted by the way this once exceptional bar has been run into the ground by the new owners.”

“Tried this place out on the recommendation of a friend last week. It exceeded my expectations. It is great. The staff are friendly and professional, the food really was excellent, and the prices are surprisingly modest. The cocktail menu is a Must, and the ambience is one of trendy sophistication, which I must say surprised me being that I'm a New Zealander... Overall Superb.”

“Nine of us London based Kiwis went here for Sunday lunch yesterday. We all enjoyed our food - it was good for the price. The beer garden, although small was nice and they even started up live music mid afternoon. The only two things that would stop this place getting 5/5 were easily fixable. Firstly, the waiter was brilliant and very apologetic, but they should have cloned him as he was pretty busy and service was a tad slow. Also, the main reason for going there was to have hokey pokey icecream or pavlova - but the cupboard was bare! We were gutted ... but again the waiter did try to diversify some other desserts for us.”

“I went to Baroque last Saturday and felt compelled to write a review. What a great find for Ealing. The Kiwi Kitchen takes its menu from New Zealand food - such things as New Zealand Lamb, Paua Fitters (shell fish) and New Zealand Hockey Pocky Ice Cream. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful - and the food was excellent. Would recommend Lamb salad and the Fitters! The Kiwi burger looked really good although none of our table tried it (next time)! I noticed at 10 a DJ comes along and Baroque turns into a club - unfortunately for us we had eaten far too much so the thought of trying to dance was out of the question. The place looks like it could have a very good night life after 10, as when we left, the place was filling up fast with trendy looking people looking for a good night. We left feeling full and happy and with our wallets still in tack. If you are in the Ealing area and want a good meal give this place a try. PS Don't forget to try the House cocktails! A must!”

“Had the best night on Saturday, a group of us booked Baroque for Dinner - a real taste of back home (NZ) the paua fritters are awesome! DJ played some cool tunes and the flaming cocktails were the best! Highly recommended”

“Excellent bar, it's not cheap, but it's great for a sophisticated night out without going into town. The food is good and great value for money, the cocktails aren't cheap but the quality of the drinks certainly make up for it. The DJ on Saturday played some really cool tunes - there was a really good vibe about the place - worth a visit! ”

“Its a great place for cool vibes and expertly made cocktails. The mojitos and the champagne selections are real good. In the summer the garden is cosy and the food and staff are all good. Can be a bit noisy when packed though.”

“A really top class cocktail bar. It isn't pricy considering the quality of the drinks. The bar staff are passionate about what they are doing and the menu changes frequently to incorporate new and innovative cocktails. The bar could do with a bit of a refurb but if it was in the west end it'd definately be one of the movers and shakers of the London cocktail scene. It'd also get away with charging an average of £7.50 per cocktail instead of the very reasonable £5.50.”
