The Falcon Review

Book a table at The Falcon

The Falcon is featured in these Guides:

A classic example of new Clapham drinking. Glowing like the sun on a cloudy day the bright yellow Falcon comes complete with the obligatory stripped wooden floors, wooden tables, wooden bar and trendy staff. The walls come in bare concrete, patches of peach paint and large saloon mirrors. The manager explained they were seeking a Mediterranean feel.

Whilst leaning towards a gastro pub with the Thai kitchen (Patay dish for about £6) and LavAzza coffee the emphasis is still on drinking. Packed in the evening with those wearing combat trousers and Get Carter t-shirts you'd be advised to arrive early as it packs out.

The beer garden out the back is a large feature of this pub with a fantastic BBQ on the weekends during the summer. Tunes pump from speakers throughout the day.

“Nice garden area, I like the fact it doesnt try too hard, mismatched glasses (a little dirty) random furniture, all makes it a very quaint evening - lots of freindly people, great in the summer.”

“I love this pub, I've always loved this pub. It can take a while to get served though but only when it's really heaving at the seams. The staff are good and cool without being pretentious. And there may be other pubs in Clapham, but nowhere beats the Falcon garden in the summer.”

“The Falcon used to be rubbish - took forever to get a drink etc but it has really stepped up its game after being done up. The taps have been changed so the beer tastes ok, staff seem friendlier and the outdoor bar makes it a lot easier to get drinks. Beer garden is quality now. ”

“I have been to the Falcon on a few occasions, It’s a great little pub but seem to have no atmosphere, It takes about three weeks to get drink and I don’t think the bar staff know how to use their measures, watch them for a minute and they seem to take great pride in under pouring every time. I had an ok day out in the beer garden but once again there was a severe lack of atmosphere, some music would be nice. It is a nice little pub but I wouldn’t go there if you were after a big day of drinking and being merry, you will spend most of your day at the bar waiting to get served, there is too many other bars and pubs in the area to settle for second best.”

“Agree with the first guy - could be the best pub in Clapham but it really lets its self down on the following :- Very slow behing the bar - ive waited for a hour during the summer and that kinds of ruins your night. Mens toilets are disgusting - ive been going to this pub sparodickly over the last five years and its never had any soap, towels/hand dryers and hot water ever - nice when you consider it also serves food. Having grumbled about these points ive still had plenty of good days there catching some sun in the garden.”

“The Falcon should be a great Pub, but some how doesn't meets its potential. The actual bar area looks ok, the garden is large with plenty of tables, but has usually been filled with the pretensious set that seems to dominate in Clapham. It takes too long to get served and the bar staff have always been unfriendly and sometimes grumpy. It is home to one of the most disgusting mens toilets I have even experienced. In the summer when it warm and sticky, its one evil stench... and everyone has to walk right past the door to get to the garden. They should really sort that out. Overall, its an ok venue, but is let down by some pretty important factors.”

“Shouldn't be called a pub it doesn't sell beer, only lager, and only seems to serve children”
