“Excellent crowd, cheese-tastic music, and fun had all night. Only been once but definitely planning a trip back there. I'm also a massive fan of their flashing dance floor, you don't see those that often these days!”

“Who doesnt love The Clapham Grand? It offers fun clubbing in such a beautiful venue, its an old theater and still has lots of orginal features. Music is really commecial, sometimes cheesy but where else do you to singalong to classic tunes whilst tearing up a flashing dancefloor? Drinks are reasonable, entry is something like £10 but I know you can get discounts if you call in advance. Everybody should try this club out at least once in their lifetime.”

“I have mixed feelings about the Clapham Grand. Went to watch the England Italy quarter final there last night and although I like the space and although they have the largest sports screen in Europe and although there was plenty of atmosphere, there were a few issues that dissuade me from going again. Firstly, the security. The perfunctory bag check at the front door did little to persuade me that they had our best interests at heart (the bouncer was more interested in a sexy woman walking passed). Then when I told them we'd reserved a table last week I was told that my name wasn't on the list and that I might find somewhere to stand upstairs (not cool!). And then, when a small group of Italian fans decided to let the world know of their presence rather than asking them to perhaps be a little less obvious or station security nearer to them for their own safety, the security just watched on whilst pints were thrown back and forth and only turned up when it got really nasty and punches were thrown. The abr also ran out of lager so sold everyone cans for £3.50 a pop, Ridiculous! Plus, they only served lager, no ales! How hard can it be?”

“I love The Clapham Grand! I have been here ALOT of times over the years, and I am yet to have a bad night out. Yes, its not the coolest place around and yes, its cheesy - but that just adds to its charm. If you are up for a retro evening and want to tear up a flashing dancefloor - then The Clapham Grand is the perfect place to go.”

“I LOVE LOVE LOVE this place! Impossible to have a bad night here unless you enjoy standing round looking miserable or having a quiet drink! A place packed with happy, up for a good time people. No pretentious, no judgemental chaviness just a great place to dance, chat and let your hair down.”

“I've been to the Grand a few times and absolutely love it! If a good dose of cheese, no egos and a bunch of happy dancing punters is what you're after then it's definitely the place to go. Venue is pretty kitsch too - set in a Chinese-style theatre with lots of glitterballs and a big flashing dancefloor to strut your John Travolta moves to. Have always found the staff to be friendly and helpful - the bouncers definitely aren't the agressive Neanderthals you find elsewhere. Heaps better than Inferno's.”

“Maybe I was just unfortunate to pick a bad evening but Saturday night was bad. Walking in to the sound of the Ghostbusters did not inspire confidence in the music and this theme seemed to continue for the rest of the evening. This was coupled with the pricey beverages and absolutley embarrassing entertainment (if you can call it that - a group of girls and a lad prancing about on stage). Luckily my friends saved the evening. I wont be going back - the Grand not for me - it's too like Little House Nn The Prairy!”

“This place is an absloute dive designed purely for extracting as much money from punters and placing it into the pockets of the rude agressive and frankly fat management. On a Saturday night we arrived to walk straight into a fight on the dancefloor that the bouncers seemed uninterested in halting. Not wanting to spoil the night we remortgaged our house to buy the fetid and flourescent piss imported by white van from a polish garage that was laughingly considered an alcopop. No sooner were we upstairs on the balcony than five female 'dancers' (if the term can be applied to scantily but unusually badly clad girls executing moves coreographed by an epileptic who once watched a Beyonce video) took to the stage. It seemed to the attention of the slack jawed shaven heads on the dancefloor, but was almost the last straw for the girls in our group. The final insult was the pasty David Beckham look-a-like that followed, bounding onto stage and pretending to be in a Run DMC video, whilst almost conciously dancing out of time. All that within 10 minutes of entering the club. We tried to get our money back, but it seems the manager had already spent the cash on cheap aftershave. Do not go here.”

“Consistently and by far my favourite club in London; friendly, stylish - with a dazzling dancefloor, cosy private booths upstairs, and comfortable seating on the upper tiers for when your dancing feet can dance no more. Oh go on then - one more dance! 80's Pop on a Thursday, plays all the dancey classics of that retro era, Friday is Housey Dance night - cool, classy, sexy. Saturday used to be pure 70's disco, although they seem to be experimenting with a few different themes at the moment - it's all good, but bring back the disco! No bad attitudes, everyone is there to dance and have a good time. Long may The Clapham Grand ROCK! (P.S. Honest, I don't work there - I just go there a lot!) :-) xox Oh, and they have a big screen (the biggest in town, I believe) for showing sport on if you like that kind of thing.”
