The Arbitrager Review

The Arbitrager is featured in these Guides:

Top 10 things you need to know about The Arbitrager bar:

1) If you dream of a journey away from all this, The Arbitrager cocktail bar is for you.

2) A short walk from Bank Tube station, it could become the trendiest drinking venue in London. Set over two levels, it resembles a saloon up top - The Arbitrager - and walks you in to a decadent basement area called Demon, Wise and Partners;

3) In the modern pub, you’ll taste only London products. You’ll drink beers, ales and gin that you’ve probably never heard of: Bosko, Republika Craft Pilsner, Fourpure Amber Ale. Tonics are made in-house and on Mondays you can attend talks to learn more;

4) Downstairs in the cocktail bar your journey will be softly lit and drowned in gold, mirrors, and chocolate colours. Here, precious whiskeys are served; the 21-year old Appleton Estate rum is featured; and the 209 gin will have an encounter with Marsala wine!

5) Your guides are Robin and the extraordinary Alessandro. They know EVERYTHING about cocktails and spirits; Alessandro, the manager/creator, will indulge you, presenting drinks as if you were the audience to a piece of poetry;

6) Two main cocktails: the Wise and the Demon. They are served on a “first come first serve base” and are numbered, so you know how many will still be served that night and if you will be the lucky one;

7) Be ready for an “around the world” expedition: learn about the finest Maracame tequila, the oldest gin, the £580 bottle of whiskey and the small Scottish island with 14 distilleries. You will hear tales of hand-picked Agave and family-based Mexican micro businesses. You will dream of Cuban nights and Frank Sinatra serenades whilst tasting the most explosive and yet delicate mixtures;

8) Attention to detail is a must: Italian-carved crystals, miniature trunks containing riddles - printed on coffee-infused paper – to guess the next cocktail ingredient, little bottles and small magic pills that hold the component which make your cocktail explosive;

9) Appetisers: there are only light bites in this deluxe cocktail scene: prosciutto, salami, French cheese, served on rustic boards, accompanied by flat bread;

10) Upon leaving you will feel as at the end of a great adventure: looking forward to familiar faces yet nostalgic and dreaming of your next return.
