The Dickens Inn is featured in these Guides:

The Dickens Inn in St. Katharine Docks, next to Tower Bridge and the Tower of London, was formerly the centre of the Port of London.

With many of the original dockland buildings now converted and refurbished, St. Katharine Docks today provide many restaurant and bar dining and drinking options for Londoners and tourist alike.

The Dickens Inn mantains the areas link with dockland history being originally a spice warehouse dating from the 18th century.

The timber framed building was restored and renovated in 1969 in the style of a 19th century balconied two storey inn and opened in 1976

as Dickens Inn.

The Dickens Inn's impressive European Redwood beams and pillars, antique furniture and maritime relics lends itself to a feeling of warmth and charm. It was described by one critic as 'The most atmospheric spot in the whole of London'.

The Dickens Inn is home to traditional English pub on the ground floor serving pints of ale and pub grub. There are also 5 TVs screening the latest sporting action from around the world. The bar also has two large beer gardens adjacent which are perfect for the summer months, basking in the alfresco sun.

The second floor of the Dickens Inn is a pizzeria restaurant overlooking the dock.

The Grill on the third floor is the restaurant section which serves speciality steaks and Sunday roasts.

“My wife and I went to have evening meal in the Grill on Sunday 4th July 2010 as an end to a weekend in London. Service slow even with 4 staff on duty but two? senior staff seemed to be working against each other leaving the two junior staff running around like headless chickens!!! 20 minutes to get the first drink and another 20 mins before the first course arrived, this was of Tiger Prawns and was quite good. The second course was of Sirloin Steak and Rib Eye Steak both with Chunky Chips..on ordering we had requested the Sirloin as Well Done and Rib Eye as Medium what we received was a Rare Sirloin and a rib Eye that was just browned on the outside!!!!! the Chips were powdery and there we a large spoonful of black Olives. My wife was unable to eat the Sirloin and I had difficulty in eating my Ribeye.. The Chips were also left....When we spoke to one of the senior staff they just offred a FREE glass of wine as we were still hungry we ordered the Almond pie and Vanilla Pod Ice cream this turned out to be one small scoop of super market ice scream, I will not say Vanilla as it was tasteless and a slice of Almond pie which was no more than 1 inch wide at the pastry end!!!! Total cost of this meal was £83 My advice is do not eat here.... Over priced, poor food and service.”
