“The Phene is a superb venue, particularly since they have opened up the new garden although it is a shame that we have to go inside by 10 as the outdoor heaters are great on a chilly night! The passion fruit cocktails are to die for and the food is excellent. The staff are top notch, friendly and always on the ball. Love this place.”

“Amazing!! Stunning gardens, ridiculously cool interiors, very pretty girls and boys! A proper Chelsea hang out spot for day times and pre-club drinks. Not open very late as in a really residential area but such a cool spot. I am 100% going back next weekend, might even take my boyfriend this week for after work drinks - they do great sharing platters and pretty simple but seriously tasty food - I had a yummy red pepper and tomato risotto and slice of gluten free choccie cake from the deli - had this increddddible orange icing - so good! I wish I knew how it was made!! The deli bit is really cool - sandwiches and chocolate bars and yoghurt-covered edamame beans (sounds weird but soo good! They taste just like roasted peanuts as the edamames are dried but healthier than nuts!!) to take away or eat in as well as hams and olive oils and cheeses.. the lot! really cool space with huge tv screen and candles everywhere. The bar is more typically pubby but designed in a super slick way with lots of funky books and lights behind the bar and big red leather banquettes all round the outside. The same people own Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club and they have these goorgeous little red silk lamps around the outside, a bit like they do in Ronnie's Bar. The garden is the best feature hopefully more good weather on its way to seriously enjoy hanging out there but apparently not even much of an issue as they've got these great big heaters which should mean once it does get that bit chillier we can still hang out in this area whithout freezing our nuts off!! Definitely worth a visit.. service a bit slow side but they have just opened so its to be expected really.. and its such a cool place to sit you dont really care they gave us a huge Scrabble board to play upstairs in the lounge so we werent bothered by the wait at all!!) Felt like a members club or something!”

“Yes, the pub has excellent food. Yes, the pub has an excellent choice of beers, wine and spirits. Yes, their is lovely garden area by the pub. But my do you have to pay for it. The prices are a lot, even for this part of Chelsea, and the clientele... well i guess they are from this part of London. Not the most buzzing of atmospheres, in fact no atmosphere and no characters to talk to. George Best would turn in his grave if he saw what had happened to one of his much loved London haunts.”

“Having attended the opening evening on Monday, I have been back for dinner and drinks every night this week! The Phene Arms is quite simply stunning. The beautifully furnished garden is a wonderful summer's evening suntrap, and the scrumptious food menu is perfect if you're looking for a big meal or a healthy light snack and smoothie. Vegetarians and gluten frees etc are all wonderfully catered for. There is a deli on site, with lots of healthy food to take away or eat in, and a room with a huge screen showing world cup games. There is a different area for whatever kind of evening you're looking for. The crowd (it has always busy, but not unpleasantly crowded) is an elegant mix of all ages. The wine and beer choices are great and the cocktails are INCREDIBLE and the beautiful and charming owner Lily is usually around chatting to customers and making everyone feel so welcome and at home. I could not recommend the newly reopened Phene Arms highly enough - there is nothing else quite like this charming venue.”

“This pub WAS closed 3 years ago. It's being re-furbished NOW. Back to original structure so lets hope they read the previous reviews. Watch this space.”

“With any luck someone with some common sence will take this place over and restore it to its former glory. All they have to do is call it 'boho chic' and and fool everyone into thinking its 'retro' and 'old school'. They ignored the old phrase "If it ain't broke don't fix it" and look what happened. A testiment to the unpopular nature of the refit was that it only took a couple of years after the bland refurb for it to shut. Heres hoping luxuary flats aren't on their way to replace this once great old pub.”

“Good luck, Ian. Despite a general disappointment with the decor, the staff were good, they still served beer and (most importantly) was the best place in Chelsea to have a drink in the evening during the summer. I hope your efforts to get the place reopened are successful.”

“This has now sadly closed. for how long I don't know. Read the other reviews and totally disagree with most. Don't know how long it's been since they went, but over the last 5months, this place really got going. Not bad food, great bar staff and a friendly atmosphere. I am in the process of trying to get this back open, with newspapers and websites willing to help. It has too much history to close, and a damn shame as it was like my 2nd home!!! Message to the landlord of Chenyne Walk Brasserrie: Please get this reopened asap!!! Ian Chelsea.”

“This pub used to be the perfect local for Old Chelsea residents who were more interested in having a drink than eyeing up each others Porsches. Admittedly it was in need of a coat of paint but whoever chose the decor should be shot. Now just a bland, charmless pub that's trying too hard to be like its near neighbour, gastro-pub The Cross Keys. ”

“Good for George, I mean I don't approve of assaulting anyone obviously, but I can see why the diminutive footballing genius and wife beater threw a benny when he saw this place. Used to be great, great pub, now a passable cocktail bar at best. That's progress for you. No doubt the Chelsea kiddiez love it but I've sure stopped making the trip from Battersea. Go to the Albert opposite Battersea park instead, it's only five minutes away and at least they do a decent pint and have friendly Australian hobbits behind the bar.”

“I used to regard the phene of the past as a hidden gem.Part of its appeal to me was the retro ism of the place. It was like stepping into a pub of the sixties,it was classy and at the same time scruffy as f**k.However after initial shock at the drastic makeover I have come to like the place.Yes it can be pretentious and over the top but the two managers are lovely fellows and because of their hospitality I have come back again and again. The resturant upstairs is great and although the downstairs bar has become a plasma screened cocktail/champagne type place it still remains charming,so much so that many of the old regulars have returned. However dont go here looking for george best anymore he has been barred by the management for assaulting one of the staff,he probably didnt like the new paintwork! Enjoy....”

“I didn't know the Phene before the change. I am now happy to call it my Local. You might argue, it isn't a pub that can have "local" status anymore--too posh, too cocktail oriented. Wrong. Phene welcomes a nice mix of people. The staff is friendly enough that you can go alone and not feel out of sorts and there is ample seating for going with a large group. With the renovation and cleaning of the patio, this will be the place for people to relax over the summer. Plus, I dare you not to fall for the charms of the new managers.”

“Frankly I am bemused by the people who think this atrocity is an improvement on the old Phene. Previously the Phene had a Minder-esque charm and curiosity factor that made it a special place in punter's hearts - now it is the sort of place that is only frequented by affected, joyless losers who think plasma screens and grey poufs somehow translate into sophistication. I have no problem with cocktail bars on the King's Road or Soho but to construct a cocktail bar in a room that is 20 foot by 20 foot in the heart of residential Chelsea boggles the mind. I'm not worried though, it will only be a matter of months before the management will realise that people would rather a pint and some good cheer on a monday evening rather than Sex On The Beach with the sort of people who think owning an Audi TT makes them better lovers!”

“I went here last week and reading these reviews I can't believe that we all went to the same place. Although some of the reviewers are so illiterate that I find it hard to believe they were old enough to get served anywhere. 'If you're after a pint go somewhere else' is a weird plug for a pub. It's not terrible, it's just really bland. And quite pricey. I mean there was nothing much to say about it beyond that. What do you want? It's a Chelsea pub - they're all bland. Gee whizz calm down people.”

“The phene arms has never looked any better. It was lucky for phene arms to receive the love and attention of their new owners as the last ones would let it to go to shit. I personaly love the place as i have seen it before and now and i say well done. The atmosfere is great and is the merit of the staff there which are profesional and will treat everyone as an individual. The Phene Arms Alimente has kept its traditional look but with a light make up so that you will not feel discusted when eating the great food that they serve there. So dont just go for a pint as you can get one everywhere but try the food as well as you will be suprised. Go there and have a great night you will not regret your choise and i dont even want to imagine what is going to be like in the summer.”

“Until recently the Phene was the best pub in Chelsea. It was an old fashioned place, it's true, the central bar had been there since the 1850s. It wasn't prissy or self conscious though - it was very much the local boozer, and this is what made it great. It was a standout place in an area packed with pretentious bars that changed decor every ten minutes and all had an identikit crowd of Sloane rangers and Eurotrash. Well now it's gone. The Sloanes have moved in and turned it into a matt grey cocktail bar. It is utterly bereft of character, the leatherette pouffes are impossible to perch on, a pint of Guinnes costs £3.10. Giant plasma screens dominate the place. The bar staff can't tell whisky from brandy, much less diferent brands of lager apart. Bitter? Don't even ask...The clientele, last time I was in, was made up of four braying city types who left at about eight, and two regulars who looked utterly disgusted with what had happened to their pub, and rightly so. I strongly suggest you go elsewhere, this place is now appalling, really, genuinely bad. Bad service, bad atmosphere, bad pint and bad vibes.”
