Top 10 things you need to know about Quadrato Restaurant:
1) The menu is modern Italian peppered with French and British-inspired dishes – a thoughtful tweak introduced by the chefs, there to make sure that every palate is pleased; a nod to London’s multicultural diners. Must-have mains are the pan-fried wild sea bass and the rib eye steak. Dishes are sweetly garnished with locally-sourced purple basil, where appropriate, and the choice dessert is the warm brownie mixed with clotted cream.
2) Come on a quiet night and staff have the time to share their well-versed wine knowledge. Arrive on a busy night (say, when there’s a concert on at The O2 nearby) and you’ll be hard-pressed to get the VIP treatment.
3) Vegans, vegetarians, and even pescatarians will be pleased by a menu that easily appeals to dietary restrictions. The staff are perfectly at ease with altering or offering options.
4) There are charming little perks that make you feel especially posh and taken care of: delicious little amuse-bouches from chef and thoughtful habits from the waiting staff, such as sweeping away breadcrumbs from the tablecloth; a nice formality.
5) Ingredients are locally-sourced: fish from nearby Billingsgate Market, along with other produce from the chef’s “secret places.”
6 If you work in the Canary Wharf area, it’s a more than decent place to meet a client for lunch. It’s also nice for a date if you fancy riverside walks and potential romantic River Bus rides before or after you’ve dined.
7) Once a Four Seasons Hotel, The Canary Riverside Hotel has since changed its name but maintained its waterside lustre. Views are spectacular – the selfie-moments are endless.
8) It’s very easy to travel to if you’d like to head away from The City to Central London. It’s also a 20-minute DLR commute to the London City Airport and a no-brainer if you’re looking for easy luxury.
9) The 5-star restaurant has a lush ambiance: high ceilings and windowed walls that look on to pretty gardens.
10) The 80+ positive TripAdvisor reviews don’t lie; this place is liked. The £35 prix-fixe 3-course menu is especially popular....read more
