The Chester Arms Review
If the only true way to a man’s heart is through his stomach then it’s best to take the scenic route - via the Arms, The Chester Arms.
Regardless of the medicinal post-work free Friday quiz or the TV drips that keep you pumped full of up-to-the-minute handbags-at-dawn premiership manager mischief, there’s only one real reason to get yourself checked in at The Chester Arms pub…and that’s the top tucker.
Cures for hunger range from the traditional winter sedative, bangers and mash, to the more daring antidote, chicken sate with accompanying pyramid of parsley-sprinkled rice. It’s no wonder that they also do call-out take-aways. Be warned though, this kind of publican service costs an arm and a leg. There is no welfare, but the fare fares well.
There is nothing too extraordinary in terms of diverse beers, and the décor is reminiscent of a school dining hall (which seems appropriate for the work-heavy crowd) but it could be worth a snifter or two during the summer months after a game of softball, football or any other kind of ball if you’re into that sort of deviant behaviour. And if you’re stupid, I mean, BRAVE enough to want to sit outside during December then there are benches accompanied by toasty mushroom heaters.
In conclusion, it’s a bit like my ex-wife really – not much to look at but by Jove she can cook! (*at a price)....read more

“I didn't try the food, but it must really be somthing if it makes up for the lame cocktails and surly service. I had a white russian that tasted exactly like a glass of milk - when i gave up on cocktails and ordered a glass of wine the barman mixed two bottles - when the result was horrible he refused to change it!! I wont be going back.”

“OK, so I'm biased as this is my 'local' at work. It's a strange combination of 'modernised' old man's pub. It can get a bit smokey, but is generally a light airy place. The food however is great, with quite a varied menu and the staff have always been extremely friendly.”
