Electric Ballroom Description
Electric Ballroom is featured in these Guides:
The Electric Ballroom is at the heart of Camden Town's bustling community and has been a key part of it since it's early days over 40 years ago. It began as a busy Irish club playing host to a wide variety of performers including the likes of Jim Reeves. In the past decades Sid Vicious, Madness, The Clash, George Thorogood and the Smiths have drawn huge crowds to the venue. The most recent performers have included Blink 1-8-2, Reel Big Fish, Seafood, Dead Kennedys, Beth Orton, Blur and Garbage.

“The Electric ballroom is my favourite venue of all time.
Unlike other reviews I’ve read here, I'm talking about the Saturday night experience. A delight of cheesy music and all sorts of people enjoying themselves to the maximum. The bar downstairs is never heaving so service is not a problem and once you start dancing, make sure you have on comfortable shoes because you won't stop until 3! I’ve never come across any trouble and the DJs take all requests you can throw at them. There’s a Garage room upstairs for those of you that prefer something abit more trendy and the place next door does a mean cheese and ham croissant to get you through the journey home. Five out of Five, everytime!”

“If you want a night out to make you feel like you are an extra in a super cool movie then the Ballroom is for you! Of course i am only referring to the goth/industrial/metal outfit on Fridays when i say this. Trust me! when you walk in to the main ground floor goth/industrial/electronic room you will feel like you are walking on to a film set! Its dark, mysterious, full of life and really does compliment everything the seedy, underground, atmopspheric London club stands for. Upstairs is an intimate and energy packed metal room, not the most different in dresser's but definately more of a physical crowd than the ground floor. Staircases and corridors everywhere to get lost in and lots of places to perch and chill out! Sorry to say that drinks will be typical London prices so take a little more money just to be safe. However the ballroom will allow you to see all sorts of interesting 'to say the least' looking people there and above all some of the most friendly, beautiful people you're ever likely to meet too. This really is a must experience club night people! Make sure you dont miss out! Tyler!”

“Ive only been on a Friday night when it was a bizarre electro/trance/grunge mix but surprisingly (since Im more of an rnb/cheesy pop kinda gal) I had a really good time. If youre not used to this sort of crowd it takes time to adjust to seeing so many full-on goths and fetishists but along with an increase of men in make-up comes a decrease in both lechery and attitude. The music also took a little getting used to but once I had, I found myself head-banging with the rest (and the best) of them. Drinks-wise its all pretty studenty: really cheap but pretty basic...i wouldnt ask for anything more complicated than a vodka orange since my request for cranberry juice was met with disgust! the main dance floor is also filled with people doing funny tricks with ribbons and the like whihc is good to just sit and be entranced by once you're nicely tipsy. On Saturdays they do a night called Shake which is 70s,80s,90s and is always packed out. Like I said i havent been there yet but its reputation is incredible and I cant wait to go.”
