Top 10 things you should know about The Frog:

1) Shoreditch has been overdone. At least by you. You’ve done everywhere on our best Shoreditch bar list. Time to try amazing food in places new.

2) The Frog sits in a unassuming car park on Brick Lane. The restaurant itself is beautifully botanical with swing seats and views of the kitchen. In summertime, this will be the perfect place for a date.

3) It’s 1pm, Saturday, and you’re ready to eat after skipping breakfast in favour of Zumba, spin class or whatever stops you from sleeping in on the weekend. As you sit down you notice that even though this restaurant screams young and cool, the patrons are of all ages, posting their food on Instagram before eating.

4) You order the basil and lemon mojito. It’s potent, herby and already giving you that warming alcohol buzz.

5) The lovely waitress, Ashley, helps you anyway she can. The menu is comprehensive and divided into categories - snacks, garden (veg), sea (fish) and land (meat) - so ask the staff to explain.

6) At The Frog, sharing is caring. Your starters will be enjoyed by everyone. The smorgasbord of taste - delicious cheese doughnuts, BBQ beef tartare, chicken butter, and celeriac and potato truffle - is the best way to sample menu snacks. A fantastic personal touch is that your dishes are brought to the table by the chefs who created them.

7) More sharing as more dishes appear. You’re enjoying the process of ordering lots of little dishes so much that you’ve gone a bit mad and ordered the mac and cheese, roast cod, BBQ octopus, lamb ragu and yet more cheese doughnuts!

8) You suddenly realise that you’ve not touched the salt because it’s just not needed. The savoury balance of this menu, made by experts, will have your eyes rolling and lips smacking.

9) Ordering dessert is second nature to you as you’re now abreast of ordering for the table. Chocolate, cherries and caramel is the perfect dessert paired with burnt toffee, lemon and malted ice cream. The flavoursome mains have been replaced by the tongue lashing sweetness of the sweet and sour desserts.

10) Waddling away from the restaurant, full of the best food you’ve had in years, you feel damn good. So good that you bought the chef a beer. Right, which new place next?
