The Candlemaker Review

The Candlemaker is featured in these Guides:

Top 10 things you need to know about The Candlemaker pub in Battersea:

1)  Whether it's finding a career or running a pub, finding a niche to shine in is what it’s all about. Here are some suggestions to consider.

2)  Candlemaker: definitely a quirky profession. Job prospects: zero. The once great candle industry in Battersea has shrunk to obscurity. Luckily, all is not forgotten thanks to The Candlemaker pub.

3)  Do you have an artistic streak? Pubs such as The Candlemaker like to give interior designers full reign in providing character and individuality for their establishments. This pub is decorated using captivating pop art paintings, such as the famous Battersea Power Station with chimneys as candles.

4)  No successful drinking establishment survives these days without an outdoor beer garden Unite terrace space. Their garden designer created sharply lit "outdoor rooms" complete with cosy heated pods.

5)  Never go hungry; be a head chef. But would you have the patience to prepare 6-hour slow-roasted lamb shoulder to put in your homemade shepherd's pie? It’s a dish so tender and delicate, no doubt the chef has been burning the candle at both ends.

6)  You’ll also need to make your own signature menu. At The Candlemaker, it’s mostly based around the full English experience, so you can enjoy classics like handmade pork sausage and mash, or the full English breakfast.

7)  Although no one starts at the top, being a pastry chef would be an ideal introduction along with making traditional apple crumbles. You can't go wrong when the apples are farm fresh and the custard piping hot.

8)  If your culinary skills are lacking but you’ve spent a fortune gaining work experience on imbibing, maybe your calling is as a sommelier? In which case, you’d surely know "Picpoul" in Picpoul de Pinet means lip-stinger and goes exceptionally well with seafood dishes like traditional scampi and chips.

9)  Maybe you have the talent to be a DJ, if you’re always the life and soul of the party. The Candlemaker’s weekend DJ plays music that’s great to build an atmosphere but not overpower your conversation.

10) However, we already know that the best job is, of course: Fluid London critic, because you get to check out places like The Candlemaker pub in Battersea. more

"I found Majingos again... I used to go here when it was based at South Quay in Canary Wharf and has now relocated to Limehouse E14 in case anyone doesn't know. It was good in the old days and I am pleased..." Which venue is this?

"Very bad experience. Booked a table, before paying making sure that the table will not be moved at some point to make space. Looks like the woman taking bookings called Candice will promise you anything..." Which venue is this?
