Established in 1839, the pub has been renamed in honour of Charles Lamb, the late 18th/early 19th century English essayist. Best known for his collected essays entitled 'Essays of Elia', published in 1823, he also provided the name for the road on which the pub stands ("Elia" being the pen-name Lamb used as a contributor to The London Magazine).
As a Free House the Charles Lamb carry a good selection of Real Ales, Lagers and top shelf spirits. Their expanding wine list is a good representation of their taste in New and Old World Wines.
They also offer an ever changing blackboard menu of traditional French and English dishes ~ mostly under £10. (Sunday Roast every week ~ £12)
