Gallipoli Bazaar Review

If it’s an authentic Middle Eastern experience you are looking for the Gallipoli Bazaar is the place to dine. Situated between 2 other restaurants of the same name on Upper Street, I was informed that the name ‘Bazaar’ comes from the unique fusion of dishes from different countries.

Gallipoli has atmosphere in abundance. The staff are incredibly friendly and service was prompt. Candles mainly light this dimly lit venue and the décor is reminiscent of an Arabian Harem with rich dark colours, draping curtains and heavy cushions. Its perfect for sitting back and unwinding to the authentic Middle Eastern music or smoke your very own Shisha. The food is a fusion of Arabic, Greek, Turkish and Egyptian so it’s likely that there will be something to suit all tastes. The food was very impressive and the menu is extensive.

Prices start at £3.35 for a starter and £7.35 for a main – I personally recommend the stuffed vine leaves and the Greek salad they were delicious. The mains are a mixture of mainly lamb and chicken dishes (there are vegetarian alternatives) with either rice, salad or cous cous and the portions were just right for the hungry!

What I was most impressed with was the whole experience of Gallipoli, the meal was good and the atmosphere was buzzing and after we ate we were invited to relax on one of the Arabian sofas and offered Shisha – an ornate Middle Eastern herbal smoking device. I am proud to say I did try and although I’m not hooked just yet it really does give Gallipoli a unique edge which had all four of us promising to return again very soon.

My only disappointment was when I got up to leave and found there was no camel waiting for me as I emerged back onto Upper Street!

Loved

"Hi guys, I come here with my friends and have very good time. I like your place very much and is very good times. I come back when I can soon. Thank you very much." Which venue is this?

Hated

"Dreadful pub, run by people who have zero idea about hospitality or running a pub. Upon arrival we sat in the back garden that only had one other table occupied , when we tried to order off the lunch menu..." Which venue is this?
