Could London be the best place outside of China to celebrate Chinese New Year? With the rich colours and smells of Chinatown and atmosphere as far as the eye can see!

2018 is the Year of the Dog. Chinese New Year starts on 16th February, and the huge parade in central London takes place on Sunday 18th Feb with much of the focus in and around Chinatown as well as Trafalgar Square.

Book a table at Hutong on 16th February and celebrate the Year of the Dog with a special menu which includes delights such as Chinese five spiced crispy duck and crispy soft-shell crab with Sichuan dried chilli. Accompany with a Panhu cocktail made with Bulldog gin, pomelo cordial, Crème de Mure, fresh raspberries and egg white. Guests will be entertained with a traditional lion dance and noise makers and red pocket envelopes will be distributed containing gifts and treats. The celebrations begin early at both branches of Yauatcha with their Chinese New Year menu being served from 5th February onwards. Dishes that are known to bring good fortune will feature including two dim sum dishes and golden fortune prawns in lime sauce. Gourmet hot dog and Champagne bar Bubbledogs in Fitzrovia transforms into a Chinese Café "Chappett?s Café" on 20th February in celebration of Chinese New Year. Sandia Chang of Bubbledogs will be joined in the kitchen by her husband James Knappett (Head Chef of Michelin starred Kitchen Table) to create home style Chinese food including spiced fried rabbit and satay roasted cauliflower. One of London's most luxurious Chinese restaurants, Michelin starred Hakkasan will be serving an exclusive Chinese New Year 2018 menu celebrating the Year of the Dog. Available from Monday 29th January until Sunday 4th March, guests can indulge in dishes such as wok-fry native lobster in superior stock with edamame and caviar and Rhug Estate organic lamb in seaweed soy with celery and enoki mushroom. The beautiful Min Jiang, found within the The Royal Garden Hotel in Kensington, are offering two menus to celebrate the Year of the Dog. Both menus are similar, but the second offers an additional course of delicious Bi Feng Tang lobster with a mango roll. Menus are available from 15th February until 4th March.
