A committee of club goers, national newspapers, media partners, key nightlife entrepreneurs, and club industry experts decided the winning entries from each category. Previous recipients of the lifetime achievement award include Richard Branson, Mark Fuller and Nick House.

The evening began with a lavish drinks reception in the glass-encased ‘Thames Room’ overlooking the Houses of Parliament. This was followed by the awards ceremony, which was held in the 'Grand Ballroom'. Guests were served a Pan-Asian feast whist watching the ceremony play out onstage. Large screens situated to either side of the stage displayed video montages of nominated bars, as well as interviews with key players in the industry.

The event was sponsored by Piper-Hidsieck, Kopparberg cider, Remy Martin and Akvinta Vodka.
