In the early hours of the 16th September in 1810 father Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla rang the bell of his little church, calling everyone to fight for liberty! This was the impulsive action that marked the beginning of the Independence War which lasted for more than 10 years before Mexico finally defeated the Spanish and became Independent. Every year Mexicans celebrate this act at midnight on the 15th, some then go to sleep before the festivities kick off on the 16th September. Below are some of the best Mexican restaurants in London.
