The 14th February: a day on which lovers and Lotharios are told where to book their Valentine's Day dining experience and when to buy flowers and cards, right?

Wrong, not all Valentine's Day ideas are made for two. Across the city there are loads of (what are dubbed) ‘anti-Valentine's' events for single people in London who are too clever to be coupled up. After all, roses have thorns, chocolates give you unwanted weight, and who needs a stuffed teddy bear atfer the age of ten? Read on freedom fighters…

1) ‘Don't Call it Valentine's' Swingers Party: Activity-based dating site DoingSomething.co.uk invites adventurous single Londoners to swing at crazy golf pop up, Swingers. Tackle the 9-hole crazy golf course with fellow singletons. Cocktails and drinks in the clubhouse bars. Pizza from Pizza Pilgrim. And a bangin' Anti-Valentine's playlist to keep you swingin' off course. Tuesday 10th February. Tickets selling fast.

2) Bubble Football – want to bump bodies with not one, but five members of the opposite sex? You'll be wearing protection of course. A full body suit. In the form of a zorbing ball. Competing to score a goal. And maybe a second date too. Thursday 12th Feb

3) Kayak for two – guarantee a wet and wild V. Day this year. Nothing says ‘I fancy you' quite like cruising along the Thames as you and your date spray eachother as you perfect your kayaking style. Sunday 15th February

4) Late London: Bohemian City –Trans-Siberian Marching Band. Absinthe. Chalkboard philosophy workshop. Life Drawing classes. Sherlock Holmes exhibition after hours. Friday 13th February. Get 2for1 tickets with code: DOINGSMTHNG

5) Papier Mache Monster Mash – Get a balloon. PVA glue. And as many googley eyes and strips of coloured paper as you could want to decorate your monsterpiece. Drink, Shop & Do. Wednesday 11th.
