Wimbledon Tennis on the Big Screen
From 27 June at The Refinery Bankside close to Blackfriars Bridge, its outdoor space will have the addition of potted palm trees and a super-sized outdoor screen showing Wimbledon as well as other sporting events. Lunchtime brings hungry crowds of office workers, but afternoons should be quieter for watching the balls fly while enjoying the kitchen's bar food: Napoli flatbread, halloumi burgers and bowls of quinoa with avocado and pomegranate seeds, and a specially created tennis ball dessert.
Bluebird in Chelsea goes all out for Wimbledon by decorating its covered terrace with huge tennis balls. A special all-day café menu is available as well as jugs of Pimms, lots of champagne and a giant screen. The terrace can't be booked so turn up early and get the best seats.
Lewis Cubitt Square at King's Cross is into the summer spirit with a seriously big screen, plus a pop-up bar and café offering Pimms, champagne, strawberries, and lots of street food and events to entertain the children while you lazily watch the tennis. Bring your own deckchairs, and if the kids get restless, wander off into the nearby Lewis Cubitt Park.
The Courthouse Hotel boasts the Soho Sky Terrace, a spacious rooftop bar area in Central London that will be screening the Wimbledon tournament for the whole fortnight. Londoners can avoid the hustle and bustle of Murray Mound and relax in front of a widescreen deluxe 50-inch TV system, with the legendary Carnaby Street below. The games will be shown with a new afternoon tea menu, with highlights including artisan sandwiches, delicate pastries and desserts made with dense, dark chocolate, fresh fruit and light, flavorsome sponges.
Wimbledon Afternoon Tea
Celebrate in luxurious style as the Leopard Champagne Bar transforms into a Wimbledon-themed bar, so you'll feel like you're in the heart of the action! With more than 50 Lanson champagne cocktails and, of course, the traditional strawberries and cream, the bar will be serving strawberry milkshakes and a selection of traditional sandwiches for the perfect “picnic-esque" accompaniment. Soak up the vibrant atmosphere and enjoy the suspense of the Centre Court action live on screen.
Take your seats for the Wimbledon afternoon tea in the elegant surroundings of the Park Lounge and Conservatory, with Champagne Lanson, the official Champagne of Wimbledon, to enjoy every moment from the courts on a live screen. Indulge in sandwiches, themed cakes and pastries, strawberries and cream and Haagen Dazs mini ice cream cones (£40 per person). This is also available at Montague at The Gardens and Egerton House.
Wimbledon Private Screenings
Tom's Kitchen at Canary Wharf is welcoming in a summer of sport with an offer of private rooms or part of the bar area for tennis watching parties. Rooms or space is free with a minimum spend of £300. Watch your favourite players with a set menu that include two glasses of house wine, or lager and canapés for £25 per person, or try the set dinner menu for £50 per person.
Guests at The Arch London can catch all sporting action on a state-of-the-art 52" flat-screen LCD television or a 106" drop down projector screen. The Wimbledon screening package is priced at £60 per person including VAT. The private screenings are the perfect treat for work events or to catch up with friends. Guests will be greeted with a glass of Taittinger champagne with mini smoked salmon blinis. Throughout the match, The Arch London's renowned Royal Afternoon Tea will be served with classic Wimbledon strawberries & cream. The “rain stopped play" menu will also be on-hand.
Special Wimbledon Tennis Cocktails & Dishes
It's the middle of summer, it's a sunny day in Wimbledon Village and you're only minutes away from the famous Wimbledon centre court. The Dog & Fox is THE place to watch the match point - and you don't even have to worry about the service. Grab a bite from the BBQ and soak up the sun while enjoying rum cocktails. BONUS: Between 27 June and 10 July, The Dog & Fox will host an outdoor pop-up Rum Shack, serving classics including mojitos and cuba libres.
At Bread Street Kitchen you can lounge in their bar and cheer on the players whilst sipping on the house serve, The Wimbledon Summer Cup, served inside an actual tennis ball on a vintage tennis racket by the “ball boys" and “ball girls" (pictured above).
