The Fluid London team therefore thought it was time to introduce you to some of London's most exciting cocktail venues, perfect for brightening up those cold February evenings and weekends. London is packed with great cocktail bars but these are some of our faves right now.
If you're looking for somewhere fabulous for a drink in Covent Garden, then you simply must check out the Covent Garden Cocktail Club on Great Newport Street. It's a member's only bar (although membership is free and available to everyone who signs up online) and is well worth the visit. Offering a kind of British Gentleman's Club crossed with prohibition era NYC style bar vibe, Covent Garden Cocktail Club is rowdy yet respectable at the same time. As for the cocktails, the menu is endless and Happy Hour on ALL cocktails is available all night on Mondays and from 4.30-7pm Tues-Sat.
Step back to the 1920's at The Luggage Room over in Mayfair and immerse yourself into a bygone era of glamour and a golden age of cocktails. This intimate establishment tucked away on the corner of Grosvenor Square is a real hidden gem and describe themselves as proud cocktail perfectionists, historians and bon vivants! We love it!
Staying in Mayfair, The Tale Bar is the latest addition to the Playboy Club London and is a vintage style cocktail bar which oozes opulence and glamour. Open to both members and non-members, this beautiful establishment is decked out in shades of gold, teal and camel and offers a fascinating insight into the club's famous history since the 1960's. Expect a menu of timeless cocktails with some rather intriguing themed offerings too such as the Fluffy Tail, Chicago 1960 and Cuffs and Collars all served by the iconic bunnies.
One of London's most popular and talked about cocktail bars has to be the utterly eccentric Callooh Callay over in Shoreditch. This award winning cocktail bar boasts the coolest Lewis Carroll themed décor which even includes a hidden room and some of the best bar staff in London. Promising loads of fun, the cocktail menu is original and exciting with offerings such as the Shuck & Smoke (tequila, chipotle, lime mole bitters and sweetcorn syrup) or the Hackney Carriage which includes liquorice, bourbon, whiskey and caramel.
Central London is filled with cocktail bars but one of our favourites has to be The Long Bar at Sanderson. With its stunning onyx bar that stretches for over 80ft, this fashionable hangout oozes glamour yet welcomes an eclectic crowd. The pretty courtyard is divine on warmer days and nights but this February, stop inside and work your way through the brilliant cocktail menu, all mixed by expert bar staff and presented beautifully. One to sample is definitely the Chocolate Old Fashioned!
With seven venues scattered throughout London Dirty Martini have certainly gained their fair share of the market when it comes to cocktails and rightly so. Renowned for serving fabulous cocktails to a cool crowd of Londoners, Dirty Martini know their stuff, particularly their bespoke martini menu for which they are famed for. Check out the brilliant Happy Hour for half price cocktails (times differ according to venue) or why not learn to make them yourself and book one of their cocktail masterclasses?
Cocktails are out of this world – literally – at the fantastic Mr Fogg's Residence in Mayfair. This brilliant cocktail bar based on the home of Phileas Fogg has become the very first bar to send a cocktail into space. Yes, you heard it right! A bottle of the bitters was sent 27km above the earth's surface, travelling for 2 hours and 15 minutes at temperatures as low as -57 degrees and made it back down to earth in order to feature in Mr Fogg's special cocktail "From the Earth to the Stars". It's made with space aged Negroni, Vermouth, Campari, Tanqueray TEN Gin, fresh lavender, grapefruit peels, orange peel, lemon peel, fresh chamomile and angelica root. The cocktail costs £25 and comes with a certificate stating that the person has sampled bitters that have been sent up into space. Cool or what?
The Modern Pantry Finsbury Square serve up a cocktail menu of mouth-watering proportions and one that perfectly matches their small plates menu. Housed in the art deco Alphabeta building on the corner of Finsbury Square, The Modern Pantry is a stylish setting and their 18 seater solid oak bar is the place to be for cocktails and tapas. Mr Lyan's amazing cocktails have been created to incorporate the flavours and ingredients used in the food such as Urfa chilies, Iranian limes, coconut oil and slated plums and the result is pretty impressive.
So grab your coat, grab your mates and go grab a cocktail this February!
