Ok, first thing, nearest tube is Parsons Green then go to Fulham Road, turn left and walk. The Bar has just been done up and is much less of a pub now, and more of a fully fledged bar. Weekdays: For... More Atmosphere: Value: Quality:

The Three Kings, Clerkenwell (Bar)
“The 3K is one of the best bars in town. It's a plain and simple, no-nonsense, just have a beer and a laugh with frineds/colleagues kind of bar with a lot of personality. It does serve food during the day and has some of the friendliest bar staff a punter could ask for.”

“Don't do it. Don't even meet here as you will struggle to be served before closing time. Beer is your bog standard rubbish at inflated prices - even for the city, Service is unbelievably bad and atmosphere crap. Walk across the road and go to Exchange Square where you have 3 to chose from, all far nicer and better setting.”

Moors Bar, Crouch End (Bar)
“A really great place to go if you fancy a night with the not quite so young (ie teeny) crowd. A grown up place to party with a fantastic Saturday night disco rnb soul type night when I was there. Incredibly friendly but get there very early if it is a weekend as it is supposedly members only!”

“The place looks like a hole in the wall when you first walk in, but that is not the case. There are many levels with many different bars. The music played was great, but nowhere to dance. I would definately go back. If you're looking for cocktails this isn't the place.”

“The Barley is an excellent, unpretenious pub, which has been serving good beer in the area long before the style bars moved in. The upstairs lounge is a quiet getaway from the weekend crush downstairs”

The Sun, Clapham (Bar)
“The phrase "victim of its own success" could have been coined with The Sun in mind. This would be a great pub if only it weren't so damn popular! In the summer, especially, the beautiful people descend here en masse, after sunning themselves on the Common all day, and consequently it is packed to the rafters by 7:00 p.m. at the latest. The categories for rating the pub do not allow the full picture to be painted, since the atmosphere is always alive due to the number of people drinking there on the terrace etc. Equally, the range and choice of drinks is much the same as any other pub of its sort in London. The problem lies in the fact that you can quite easily find yourself waiting for half an hour to get served. And there's the rub. My friends and I often just avoid this place nowadays, because you end up spending so much of your evening either waiting to be served at the bar, or waiting empty-handed in the beer garden, while your mates are at the bar. A shame, but there you have it. If you find yourself in this position, I suggest either a quick walk up the road (towards the tube station) to the Frog and Forget-me-not, or down the road (away from tube) to The Calf, both of which are decent boozers, and very rarely get so heaving as the Sun.”

Cave Austin, Blackheath & Eltham (Bar)
“I went to Cave Austin for Sunday lunch with 2 freinds. The restaurant was half full but the restaurant was unable to cope with 10 covers at the same time. It took 15 minutes to cleat the table and then we were told the chef could not cope with the rush of orders and it would take about 15 minutes for preparation which seemed no issue. The starter was bought to us after an hour and the main course half an hour later. The salmon was raw. We left and refused to pay the bill. The service and attitude were pathetic.”

“the cocktails are fantastic, the staff friendly, welcoming and truly lovely. the clientele are either raucously amusing regulars or drifters searching for something better than old compton street (aren't we all). Highly recommend this place!”

“I had the most appalling experience coming to this pub with two friends of mine. We were finishing our first round of drinks when the landlady came over and told us rudely that we had to leave. First she said that we couldn't stay on if we were jsut ordering food (my friend was at the bar buying some snacks). Then she asked if we were students and even after I said no (I am 30 but look quite young) she said, "Go! Leave now!" I demanded to know why but she said that she was the landlady and could do whatever she wanted. On my way out, I said that I was never coming back and she sarcastically said, "Oh no, you're never coming back, I'm going to go bankrupt." That just about sums this place up. Don't ever go there.”

“Live music late license the cocktail menu is the size of a Dickens noval. Shit this place is so good it sells its on mechandise and holds its own cocktail flair competition. Not bad for a place the size of your local pub and is probably the cheapest to get a drink in covent garden especially during their happy hour”

“Hi, I went to this bar first about 12 years ago and it was a real dive. However, it got the sh*t blown out of it by the IRA (literally - the bomb went off in the loos) and it has been done up really nicely now. The manager used to be this big Mongrel of an aussie who was a good laugh, but I suppose he may have moved on now. Give it a go - top venue for a General birthday party.”

The Albion, Angel & Islington (Bar)
“The Albion is a lovely quiet pub away from the hustle & bustle of Islington's Upper Street. Quite large in size it also has a large outside area which is perfect in the summer. With plenty of foliage surrounding the pub, it feels as though you are not quite in London, which sometimes, is always nice.”

“Was here last night (Tuesday eveving) and the place was a little dead. I think management seazed the opportunity to train up the new staff as the service was a little lacking / unprofessional. The food however was very good (even if the menu was a little short) and the wines excellent. Just a shame the guy behind the bar stuffed up my bill and then gave the impression sorting it out was just a little too much hassle.”

Picture of Bread and Roses, Clapham, London

Bread and Roses, Clapham (Bar)
“This should be the evolution of the drinking establishment. Nowadays too many places are turning into 'trendy' cocktail/wine bars where you feel you there is a dress code or you have to part of some sort of 'in' crowd in order to just get something to quench your thirst and sit down with your mates or they look like it should be full of old men talking about the good old days while smoking their pipe. Bread and Roses is something different. It's your local and especially so as it's off the beaten track but it's been done up. It mananges to retain that local comfy feel yet inside the seating has moved away from chintzy worn chairs to a smart mauve and pine look without being over done. The walls are plain (thank god they didn't feel they needed to fill it with cheap books, crapy B&W nostalgic photos, spades & other garden tools or nonsense art work!) which works well, giving it a easy going feel. The best thing about this pub is the beer garden. It's way from the road anyway so if you decide to sit out front you're not eating car fumes with each mouthful, but round the back it's fantastic, with a conservatory leading out to a bamboo garden. There is pinic bench seating and chairs and tables so take your pick. Enough about the great new interior and the wonderful feel of the place and on to the reason why you'd be there in the first place. Drinks are your normal averge pub with a cocktail menu thrown in for good measure and to please the Claphamite crowd but there are soft and hot drinks for the weekends when it's full of families. There is also a small but reasonable food menu which tastes good and does the job well. Best of all it's their banana bread beer, which you get in it's special glass, if you go there you have to try it, it's wonderful stuff. This is a great pub, all the better as it can cater for after work drinks, food breaks and families.”
