Defectors Weld - Youngs 170 Uxbridge Road, Shepherds Bush, London, W12 8AA (Map)
Reminds me of the bars in the East End a few years ago. Good atmosphere with lots of Bushites dressed up in their 'trendy' garb, enjoying the booze & dj playing a mix of classics & new tunes. Queue at... More

Le Pain Quotidien, South Bank & Bankside (Bar / Restaurant)
“The menu is very diverse. The coffee are great, and large. The layout is quite interesting (bridge tunnels). And there's free wifi. Aside from the occasional screaming child curing the day (yummy mummy ville), this is a brilliant place to hang out on the South Bank.”

Camino, Kings Cross (Bar / Restaurant)
“I went to Camino for dinner with some friends (it was my friend's birthday) and despite always hearing of it, it was my first time. I had a great evening. We were seating in the biggest table with booth seatings, so it was cosy and away from the bar noise. The food was excellent. We had lots of tapas to share and I tasted pretty much all that we ordered. My favourites were the sliced steak (juicy!) and the pulpo with paprika (I soaked it in olive oil, I love olive oil and they have a very good one!). We had jugs of sangria and a good red wine (too bad I forgot the name, I'm not a wine expert at all!). The waiter was spanish and very very friendly. The service was precise: he was there when we needed him, but not bothering us all the time. He explained the menu and even performed some food skills mixing the tapas in front of us! Music was good, great ambience and delicious food. I recommend to everybody. But make sure to book first, the restaurant was busy the whole time we were there.”

The Havelock Tavern, Hammersmith (Bar)
“Je viens souvent au Havelock avec mes petites-filles Amandine et Camille pour manger ou boire ma "guiness";l'endroir est sympathique et convivial;un jour le chef m'a fait des frites épaisses"à la française",rien que pour moi...sympa,non?
A bientôt:Maurice,dit "PAPY"
I often go to the Havelock with my friends Amandine and Camille for something to eat or to drink, especially the Guinness: I find it both convivial and enjoyable; one day the chief made special french chips just for me… lovely, non? So long: Maurice, known as " PAPY (Ed's rough translation)”

Archangel, Kensington (Bar / Restaurant / Club)
“Nice bar on Ken High Street but £4 for a coke & a latte is a bit steep me thinks. Especially when the coke is tiny - topped up with ice. Only plus is the outside seating, but then there are only two tables so you have to be lucky.”

The Tattershall Castle, Westminster (Bar / Restaurant / Club)
“Great bar & restaurant on the Thames! Really surprised at the reasonable price for drinks and if you're a smoker then there is lots of space.... but it does get chilly once the sun has set. Takes a while getting used to the sway of the boat which is exemplified every time a large tour boat cruises past! A must if you're looking for somewhere a little novel and you're in central London.”

Bar 190, Kensington (Bar / Hotel)
“Due to its proximity to Hyde Park, the Royal Albert Hall and the Natural History Museum, this hotel bar is always going to attract custom from the upper echelons of society and, as such, the variety of drinks on offer is outstanding. They have over 20 vodkas, the same of whiskeys, and if you want a mojito there are about 25 flavours to choose from. The atmosphere is a bit quiet though so it would suit small groups or those engaged in dangerous liaisons.”

Spaniards Inn, Hampstead (Bar)
“This is one of those 'lovely' type pubs. Low ceilings, tons of history, great big back garden, locality to Hampstead Heath, great beers on tap, friendly bar staff, hearty fare, and for the dog lovers amongst us - dog friendly. It even has a dog wash machine outside.”

The Ship, Wandsworth (Bar / Restaurant)
“The beer garden has had a new refurb and looks great! Managed to catch one of the last summery Sundays of 2009 here and loved the atmosphere and outside area. Only disappointment is that you can't really see the river from majority of the garden, which is a shame as your right next to it! Highly recommend this pub!”
