Imbibe 173 Blackfriars Road, Southwark, London, SE1 8ER (Map)

Hired out Imbibe recently for my husband's 40th Birthday celebration, and could not possibly be any happier. This venue really is fantastic, and we have received so many compliments about the evening.... More Atmosphere: Value: Quality:

“Just came from there. One among the best places in London. I go there always when I have nothing to do. Drink coffee, czech beer, eat the snack, free wi-fi... Such an artistic place with wonderful atmosphere and the best people behind the bar!!! ;) Highly recommend!”

“Free entry but...All the folks in here were too old to get into any night club or trendy places! What on earth was I doing here! I saw a few drunk cougars dancing around :-s and dirty old man dancing like james brown! Its small, Nicely decorated, good music but the people are old and past it! If your old and can still bust a move its the place for u. If your young, trendy and want to party with people like yourself - Avoid, or else u will be bored and spend the night people watching.”

The Barracuda, Ealing (Bar / Club)
“This place wad called Barracuda back in the day then it got changed to "Bar Eight" and from here it went downhill! Read the previous posts please (there is no point in me repeating lol) I have NOT only been here once or twice, I have given this place a good chance and enough time to build themselves up but honestly it gets worse and worse. I went last night and the name has been changed back to 'Barracuda' The place was full of drunk or miserable unfriendly indian folk. Wonder why? Because the rubbish indian boys who were meant to be the dj's, played indian, bhangra music or they mixed every other cool reggae, hip hop song with a fast dance beat and ruined the sound! There was no flow! This went in allllll night! A d.j that shouts out "twist the light bulbs" every 2 seconds is a joke and the poor sods that actually follow his instruction....HAHAHAHA! I seriously wish I had taken the name of the dj's to name and shame them right here...Yes it was that bad!!! Wait till priory is fully refurbished and the downstairs is also open, this should be sometime in January 2011. :-D This place has atmosphere, decent cool friendly people. check it out people and don't bother with Barracuda / bar eight / whatever nonsense they name it, u all know the building!”

“What a lovely looking place. Beautiful ladies great hospitality. They've certainly recreated and improved the early days of Spearmeint Rhino. Well they had until my night turned bad..... Was having the time of my life until one of the ladies decided to rip me off. I'm quite happy to pay "for the fun of the night" but am not willing to be ripped off point blank for nothing in return. The manger tried to smooth thing over but alas the offer of vouchers missed the point......”

“I went here with a voucher and was basically treated like a lower class customer. It was a dreadful experience. The waitress humiliated me purposefully in front of the restaurant by bringing all the courses at the same time, making everyone look at me like i was a greedy pig, and by saying loudly "a bottle of wine, all to yourself?!". She was nasty, rude, and then had the nerve to ask for a service fee on the bill. I will never go here again, and recommend nobody else to waste their money here!”

So many of our guests commented and how fanatstic the venue was and how great the staff were. We are going back to the restauraunt for our 4 month anniversary thsi weekend and are really looking forward to it.”

The Brewmaster, West End (Bar)
“Visiting London for the weekend we came into the Brewmaster for a sunday roast but the whole experience was very disappointing. We checked first that they were doing a sunday roast and that there wouldn't be too much of a wait as we had cinema tickets in an hours time opposite, and were told they did roast beef and roast chicken and they there wouldn't be a wait. Well, we waited over half an hour, had to chase it, to which we got quite a surly response, then were delivered the wrong meal, a roast beef yorkshire wrap with chips rather than the proper roast beef dinner. We informed them it was wrong, that we'd been waiting 40 minutes and I had to wait at the bar for a while til the manager would come out. He reminded me it wasn't fast food (no kidding at 45 minutes and waiting) and then he disappeared again. Other meals arrived at nearby tables in the meantime and it was 50 minutes in total til our food arrived. I said that as we'd only have time to eat half, that we only expected to pay half for the food. They did give us this refund of half off the food and a free drink, but there was no time to drink this as this wasn't immediately forthcoming (I saw the manager chatting at the bar, rather than delivering the drink first). Now to the food, the mean was very tough, the carrots and cabbage had a very strange taste and the yorkshire was flat and in pieces. We ate the roast potatoes which were fine, and then had to go as the film was starting. It only occured to me later, that they'd probably just unwrapped the beef and yorkshire pudding wrap they brought first time and switched the chips for roast potatoes. Poor food and insulting service. The other staff were polite and apologetic but couldn't really comment on how the manager was. I sat through the film hungry and then went to the nearby Wetherspoons and had very good service and quite a tasty meal, wish I'd gone there in the first place! When I'm next in London I will give the Brewmaster a wide berth.”

“Excellent cuisine - easily the best in Kensington, if not London. And the sommelier was superb with some fantastic recommendations with each course from starters to dessert. A special restaurant for those special occasions.”

The Artesian Well, Clapham (Bar / Club)
“Top Bar/Club really unique/amazing. Inside its like a fantasy world with lots of different sculptures. I was told that is owned and designed by a very famous sculptor Rudy Weller which designed Helios Horses in Piccadilly also. I had a table booked and really amazing staff and brilliant Djs. We just never got bored we could go up three floors with different Dj's/music on each floor so it was a perfect night out. Drinks prices were fab but the only down thing was when we arrived was already long queue so we had to wait for a while to get in. Thanks Artesian and we'll definitely see you soon x x”

“I read some of the bad reviews about Artesian Well and I have a suggestion to you guys please go to some cheap pub you're used to go and have a cheap pint as Artesian is too classy for you. Me and my friends just been to Artesian and its unique experience. We just loved the place and the atmosphere. Great music with three floors to choose from and many different rooms and the most tasty Mojitos we've ever had. I strongly recommend this place.”

“I bought a chicken curry and rice to take away and the sauce had far too much salt in it. The actual chicken tasted nice but was spoilt by the salty sauce which accompanied it.”

The Water Margin at the O2, Greenwich (Restaurant)
“I was lucky enough to get tickets for the ATP Roddick and Nadal match last night at the O2 so popped into Water Margin for a quick bite on the way with mates (glad we did, the 3rd set started after 10pm!!). The food was so tasty - king prawns, lamb, beef in all sorts of different flavours! Had I known it was an all you can eat I may not have gone as it was pretty hard to drag myself away from the food! What an amazing start to the week! - Thanks Water Margin - and of course Roddick and Nadal for the great game that followed!”
