The Diner Shoreditch 128 - 130 Curtain Road, Old Street, Shoreditch, London, EC2A 3AQ (Map)

Bar none, the Diner Shoreditch is the Worst service I have had at any restaurant anywhere in my life! We went there for brunch in late June 2009. The waitresses failed to place our order and other tables... More Atmosphere: Value: Quality:

“Great food, and entertainment. Child friendly and good service. Not the cheapest drinks. A little bit pricey for a regular visit. (for me anyway) 60gbp for 2 adults and a 2yo child (no wine) isn't the cheapest for dim sum and a beer.”

Yi-Ban (Docklands), Canary Wharf (Bar / Restaurant)
“Ate here for lunch on the way to london and was so pleasantly surprised... the building needs some love and care but once you take the small elevator too the first floor and get seated and then choose, the rest is magic. The food was incredibly good; I thought Ping Pong was good but Yi Ban is the mother of Chinese... the vietnamese spring rolls were succulent and light, the deep fried prawn "thingy" was incredible, the steam scallop duumpling out of this world. But I feel bad telling you all this because the place will be packed the next time I go. It's a well kept secret so don't tell anybody. Fantastic! I'm mouth watering thinking about it and it's breakfast.”

Balti Hut, Harrow (Restaurant)
“This restaurant is so special and good to my friend and I that I didn't want anyone else to know about it! But within the same thought people should know about this restaurant because it has a variety of dishes that are cooked to your satisfaction in terms of texture, taste, and most importantly spice! You must not leave Balti Hut without trying their freshly baked nan bread, it is great as a foundation to eat dishes with. The service is fantastic, and the chefs are in the open kitchen a few steps away from the dining area. This is the kind of place I would sum up as being simple, down to earth, pleasant, original, relaxed, and not over the top with their image. You can take your own wine with you too. If you want a place with great food and a relaxed family atmosphere where you can go with a good friend who appreciates the same things, then this is a place to check out!”

“Absolute rip off.. Dont even bother..!! Went for a sunday lunch and it ended up costing £40 for 2 people.. Unbelievable.. The dinners alone were £14 each and all we had to drink was a lime and soda each.. They also had the cheek to charge £2 extra each for a yorkshire pudding and added additional service charge on top.. I wouldn’t care if the meal was nice but I got 3 pork chops (when it said roast pork) and there was next to nothing on my plate.. Can't believe that this place is still open.. It should be closed for ripping people off.. Or people should wise up and stop paying stupid prices that keeps them in business..”

“For what it is, this a very good restaurant pub. Have been pleasantly surprised by the food quality on a number of occasions. Service has been perfectly pleasant. Lots of space for children. The only downside is that it is now becoming so popular I have to make reservations.”

The Pig and Whistle, Barnes & Sheen (Bar)
“Admittedly I may be out of date somewhat with my review of this pub, but this is based on a particularly bad experience. I remember going to this pub back in the summer of 1998 - to watch England play in the World Cup (yes, I know this was a bad decison!), only to witness chaos afterwards as England were eliminated. In the brawl that ensued between two groups of thugs, I along with a couple of friends decided to make a swift exit. Needless to say I have never returned. Having moved back into the area recently, I have yet to set foot inside the pub - 11 years on!....and don't intend to either. Just terrible, a simply dreadful pub that still seems to attract mouthy yobs.”

I wasn't disappointed! the atmopshere was great and the bar is so funky, not what you expect in the middle of Westminster! We really enjoyed our evening, and planning to go back on the 31st for the 70s & 80s night!”

“I try and get to Bar Gansa regularly as the food there is always of very high quality. I enjoy every aspect of this resturant. The staff are very friendly, especially if you go there as often as i do.. they are very good at remembering my order! The Sangria is the best I have had in London. The tapas is beautifully cooked, not the usual greasy tapas you get in so many of the spanish restaurants about in london.”

Asadal, City of London (Restaurant)
“Over the last few years, I have regularly met with friends and family from Korea, China, United States, and Europe at the Asadal restaurant. Now we meet at the new Asadal at Holborn tube station. We are always craving its great and high quality Korean food, but also to share time together in an atmosphere that reminds us of Korea. For some of my friends and family, it is their first exposure to Korean food, others are really connoisseurs but invariably Asadal is definitely our favourite Korean restaurant. The restaurant can accommodate large crowds. It is possible to eat within the intimacy of our own group of people at a very large table. There are dividers and even free private rooms. Asadal is a child-friendly place. Children love tasting the food, especially when there is a large table full of different dishes and they can pick and choose what they like in the portion that suits them. Asadal has special seats, small forks and small spoons for children, and the staff are always happy to help. They also have facilities to change the babies. There is a place near the table to place the buggy or other luggages. It is much larger than it appears from the outside and it is easily accessible for families and people with mobility difficulties as there is a lift. I heartily recommend it, as it is our favourite restaurant!!!”

The Cardinal, Victoria (Bar)
“A nice quiet pub where you can actually have a conversation without the music drowning out your every word. Beer is cheap and the staff are friendly. You will not find any branded beers here but the character of the building is great. 5 stars if you want to just sit down and relax with a beer and friends without the loud noises you usually get in a pub. Is catered for the 30 something person. Great pub please don't change.”

“Most unique bar in London- I am not surprised it won an award for 'Best Bar in Kensington and Chelsea'! The drinks were great and I loved the crowd who were all cool, interesting and friendly. It has loads of quirky surprises- for example free hot dogs with your cocktails!”

“My misses and I went there last July to celebrate her 31st birthday and had a good night. So we thought we would do the same this year...only to find out that they charge £10 on the door no matter what time you arrive- we was looking to get about 20 people down there b4 9pm. Too old to be paying £10 on entrance fees, as early as 7p.m- there loss as Funky Mo Jo's accommodated all 20 of us for free!”

“I'm a local and i think i speak for us all when i say that this pub is a very very welcome addition to our neighbourhood. The menu is short but i guess thats the best way to keep it fresh and it more than takes care of my needs - a great steak, fishcakes or Sea Bass are all spot on. Good wine list, great cocktails and top notch Jazz on a Sunday. Well done Old Stationhouse.”

Rodizio Rico, Angel & Islington (Restaurant)
“I have been to Ridizio Rico in Angel some times and I strongly advise anybody looking forward to have a nice time not to go this place. I arrived there at 10 pm and a very rude waitress received me saying that they were closing the buffet and if we wanted to stay we should think because in 30 minutes they would send us home. So we came in and after 15 minutes nobody took our drinks order and I had to ask 2 different waiters for it. During the dinner most of the waiters were rude with us and a night that supposed to be very enjoyable was horrible. And just to finish off when we were paying the bill, the waitress that received us was once again very rude when i said they did not deserve to be paid the service charge. She said this sentence: " If you don't pay the service, it doesn't make any difference for us at all, we don't mind, it is bad just for the restaurant!" After this experience I will never go back there and I will strongly advise anyone I know not go there again. PS: I am a waitress as well, so I know what I am saying and I would never complain about something that isn't important.”
