Dirty Martini Covent Garden 11-12 Russell Street, Covent Garden, London, WC2B 5HZ (Map)

First impressions are lasting impressions, the bouncer (if you can call him that, the guy was very small as bouncers go) needs to be educated. I needed to call someone to get me, then he quizzed my friend... More Atmosphere: Value: Quality:

“The food at this restaurant is great, their lemon chicken reminded me of what lemon chicken should taste of. Non hurried relaxed atmosphere, good value, all other Chinese restaurants fall short of East One.”

“My wife and I went there last night 10/12/08, we ordered the set menu at £21.00 each. The starters were fine but we had a long wait until the main course turned up, when it eventually arrived it was cold! The dishes it came in were also cold, I sent it back it arrived 3 mins later boiling hot! By then we had had enough, we asked for the bill-at no time did the waiters ask us what the problem was (and there was plenty of them) I believe our main course was left out & just went cold. With drinks the set meal came to £55.00 plus they added a tip requirement of £6.00, which obviously they did not get. We thought the meal v average more like a chinese than Thai, very very disappointing & the arraogance of the staff was the final straw, nil point!”

St. Moritz, Soho (Bar / Restaurant)
“St Moritz was a restaurant I’ve wanted to try for some while. I love the food when I travel to Switzerland and it had been recommended by several friends and colleagues. First impressions were great, it has a fantastic atmosphere and the smell of cheese is everywhere! All sounds good so far, but sadly by the end of the meal I was overall disappointed and frustrated: - My partner ordered the escargot, it was great and if you like it, I would definitely recommend it. - As a starter, I ordered the Swiss sausage which was £7 for a collection of run of the mill meats that came out of the pre-packaged deli at Waitrose. Very disappointed! - We decided to go for the cheese fondue (I love fondue) and got the standard house variety with bread. Somehow, and I wish I caught this early; they get away with charging £13 per head! - We had one beer between us and our total was £60…way too expensive for the quantity and quality of food we had. Would I go again…only if I was taking clients and I could expense it! It’s time for London restaurants to step up their game. London is a global capital and as patrons we have been way too tolerant with poor service, mediocre food and exorbitant prices. St Moritz – Cheese is not that expensive, take a look at your pricing structure so that you can enjoy repeat business.”

“Ok, the Dog & Fox is an alright pub in Wimbledon Village that has a fairly buzy atmosphere, good service and lots of drinks on tap, but.... it is a pub and a Youngs pub at that. So when i was charged £7 for 2 pints i was totally shocked. £7! In detail £3.65 for a Guinness and £3.25 for a Youngs Winter Warmer, which you would have thought be a lot cheaper. I can't imagine ever going back there at those prices.... shame.”

“I live near the Canonbury and it is currently undergoing renovation. It seems to be taking ages but the planning application on the lamp-post said that they were building a conservatory and it would be re-opening as a restaurant. I truly hope it will be open for this coming summer and that it will be worth the wait.”
