Chino Latino & Club Lounge Riverbank Park Plaza, 18 Albert Embankment, Vauxhall, London, SE1 7TJ (Map)

Romance, the River Thames, modern Asian cuisine: this is one of my favourite London restaurants and these are the reasons why. Someone very special once took me here after a lovely walk along the South... More Atmosphere: Value: Quality:

“Had a great Saturday night here! Yes, the queue is tiresome and bouncers are a bit over the top, but then it helps keep the scum out. Bar was heaving and staff managed to keep cool. I think it's one of the best bars & clubs in the West End! A great bar to party!”

“Fantastic bar in the middle of an otherwise unremarkable area. Great selection of food and drink, friendly staff and a very funny comedy show on the night we visited. I wish this was my local!”

“Sadly the Adjanta has changed hands and is nowhere as good as before. The portions are much smaller and the staff attitude is poor. You have to wait far too long for menus and even longer for someone to take your order. I am really disappointed as we have used this place for 10 years and it is a pity to have to go elsewhere. I can no longer recommend this place.”

“Went back to this place by accident - before was a tired and dirty wine bar - now a smart bar & food operation run by the team behind Black & Blue - my new favourite place on the South Bank!!”

Roka, Fitzrovia (Bar / Restaurant)
“What can I say, Roka is amazing. The food is second to none - dreamy, melt in your mouth fish, loved the big windows on the corner and the big woonden benches surrounding the open kitchen. The service was impeccable, we're talking about waiters who actually know what they are talking about and who know the correct way to serve at a table, attentive yet discreet. Presentation of the food was great, carved ice chunks to hold the sashimi and the wine list was extensive and of course a wine recommended for each dish. Roka is definitely one of the best Japanese restaurants I have ever eaten at and would go back again. If you're looking to impress - choose Roka.”

Marco Polo, Putney (Restaurant)
“Modern & traditional Italian food in a fantastic location along the river in Putney. Especially great on the deck with the sun shining and a bottle of wine from the good selection offered. Food is fresh & tasty, portions are a good size so you can get away with 3 courses & wine without breaking the bank (or the button on your favourite trousers)!”

“Perfect restaurant for a long lunch overlooking the river Thames on a sunny afternoon. Good freshly cooked Italian food, attentive staff and a great terrace - one of the most spacious I've seen between Putney and Wandworth!”

Marco Polo, Putney (Restaurant)
“Nice outside area for when the weather is good and particularly kid friendly, we always have a nice meal at Marco Polo. It's slightly more expensive than your average venue in Putney, but the food and winelist are pretty good, and the service is great.”

The George, Soho (Bar)
“Small pub in the heart of Soho, good place to grab a drink after work if you don't mind standing outside with the smokers! Limited seating inside due to the size of the bar but friendly bar staff makes a change from most city bars. Be wary of the small Ladies loos and the small stairs to get there.”

Freud, West End (Bar)
“Surely one of the best cocktails bars in London. It's SO underground, in more ways than one. Considering the area, the cocktails are very cheap and very varied. You can only get away with wearing your uber-cool look in Freud, which means everyone there seems like they're in a band. I love it!”

Napa Restaurant, Chiswick & Brentford (Restaurant / Hotel)
“People of Chiswick, listen up. This place is such a find. Sure, it's a restaurant in a fairly innocuous hotel and is mainly used by M4 motorway users (probably), but this could well be one of the best restaurants in the area. Retro design, top quality nosh (I'd recommend anything from the 'Classic Napa' range) and a great little terrace area out front too.”

The Yard Bar, Soho (Bar)
“I come here a lot because it's one of the few places in the West End where you can get a nice lounge to stretch out on and the wine is generally OK in quality. That said, I have to say the bar staff are unfriendly and can be surly. Other newer staff try harder but they struggle to be competent . . . Prices have been reduced recently due to the recession, which makes the place slightly more affordable.”

“My partner and I ate here last night. We both had items from the 'specials' menu. They certainly were especially unpalatable. My half a BBq chicken looked like it had been on a severe diet. the rest of the food was just so unappetising, the so called seasonal vegetables totally unedible. Would still have been poor value for money at £1 a head but we paid all but £10 per head! I could have done better myself which is no compliment which is why we wanted to eat out to enjoy a good professionally cooked meal, unfortunately for us we didnt have a professional chef! never again!!”

“If you're trying to bag yourself a 'media hottie' - of either sex - then this is THE place to come on a Friday night after work. As it's possibly the smallest pub in London, everyone congregates on the curb outside. Cheerful, a little pricey (nearly a fiver for Bulmers!) and possibly in need of some TLC.”

Villiers Terrace, Crouch End (Bar / Restaurant)
“My friend and I ate a delicious meal here one summer evening not so long ago; following two delicious courses inside the pub, we settled in the garden for dessert and one final glass of plonk, surrounded by the happy chatter of equally relaxed punters. As gastropubs go, it's certainly up there in terms of ambience, decor and food. I'd go back in a heartbeat...but still, a few more ales on tap and some fairylights wouldn't go amiss...”
