Top notch, excellent for meeting friends before going to a club or the theatre for the night, beig just outside the station, but also does cheap bottles of wine, for a pub (my girlfriend and I could not... More Atmosphere: Value: Quality:

The Famous Cock Tavern

Edwards, Wimbledon (Bar)
“A very trendy venue with a very friendly atmosphere. Great menu, ideal for a spot of business lunch. Staff is friendly and service is prompt. Feels like a very expensive london wine bar but with a very reasonable price list. One I personally will go back to over and over again.”

“A great little bar, that attracts a really nice crowd. The music is good and they have the occasional live act. They've done a great job with the architecture and the bar is well stocked. Can't really complain about anything apart from the cramped toilets.”

“I think this is an excellent new pub in Fulham. Renovated very tastefuly - modern but cosy (very girl friendly). Also has a good size garden which is very rare for Fulham. I think it is family run which would explain why the staff are always very friendly. Good bistro type food menu. Have''nt yet had a bad meal there. Beer prices are what you would expect in Fulham but they have an excellent wine list which offers amazing value. Ilove it.”

“Great intimate spot, reminisent of 1920's Speakeasy's. Sometimes' you're seated so close you're touching the stage, No alcohol without food. Make sure you find out in advance who's playing.”

“Stunning theatrical - oriental, gothic, ancient greek/roman and 70's disco decor collide to produce this outrageously fab venue. Very busy, however drinks are ordered through knowledgeable waiters (not at the bar) so you're not spending half of your evening queueing. Outstanding drinks (though expensive), recommend the blueberry cocktails. Tough door policy yet polite, not a bouncer in sight! Full of gorgous gals and cool boys - GO!!!”

The Rising Sun, City of London (Bar)
“The Rising Sun is a great place for a lunchtime beer without the herds of suits normally associated with venues in the area. A resident bunch of Thai chefs produce without doubt the best Thai pub-grub I''ve encountered this side of Asia and the selection of beers, always well served, should be enough to keep most drinkers happy. It attracts a wide range of local punters and is a top place to spend Friday afternoon, in you can get away with it... ”

Electric Ballroom, Camden (Bar)
“If you want a night out to make you feel like you are an extra in a super cool movie then the Ballroom is for you! Of course i am only referring to the goth/industrial/metal outfit on Fridays when i say this. Trust me! when you walk in to the main ground floor goth/industrial/electronic room you will feel like you are walking on to a film set! Its dark, mysterious, full of life and really does compliment everything the seedy, underground, atmopspheric London club stands for. Upstairs is an intimate and energy packed metal room, not the most different in dresser's but definately more of a physical crowd than the ground floor. Staircases and corridors everywhere to get lost in and lots of places to perch and chill out! Sorry to say that drinks will be typical London prices so take a little more money just to be safe. However the ballroom will allow you to see all sorts of interesting 'to say the least' looking people there and above all some of the most friendly, beautiful people you're ever likely to meet too. This really is a must experience club night people! Make sure you dont miss out! Tyler!”

All Bar One, London Bridge & Bermondsey (Bar)
“Sadly the only good thing about this bar is the location. Under Butler's Wharf, right on the Thames, overlooking Tower Bridge this bar is frequented by after-work city types and passing tourists in equal measure. In the winter it can be dead and soulless; on summer evenings it cannot cope with the demand - crowds spill out onto the promenade, much to the annoyance of the local residents above. If you like this sort of bar, you'd do far better to pay the few pennies extra and be sat comfortably and offered table service at the new Browns a few doors up. In the All Bar One, where they don't limit the number of patrons they cram in, fighting your way to the bar is another symptom, but by far the most annoying is the fact that the tables are not cleared nearly often enough - empty glasses and full ashtrays litter every table. File under 'sticky table bars'.”

“went here on a wednesday evening, aquseful winebar busy with a reasonable mix of sensibly dressed people. nibbles were fine, they serve pints £2.80, wine seems fine, and our friends got hammered so the spirits must be good. A useful alternative to the pubs nearby. Interior is a bit plain but at least you can get a seat unlike the firestation.”

“Lovely old pub - reasonable food and a massive courtyard - a real suntrap in summer. And hidden away down a little courtyard, so away from the hussle and bussle of Borough High St. Old, wonky floors and beautiful timber beams - really quite special.”

“Multi award winning super uber bar. Decorated in giddy high style, somewhat theatrical meets country house. Brilliant cocktails, expensive excellent food, jam packed six nights a week with genuine Hoxtonites and beautiful Notting Hill imports. Need to book well in advance to eat, otherwise expect to share half a stool with 3 other wannabes at the crowded bar.”
