The Elusive Camel 27 Gillingham Street, Pimlico, Victoria, London, SW1V 1HP (Map)

This place has a personality all its own - sports screens, cocktails, no pretensions, and the best menu I've ever seen at a bar. The music is cool, gets you in the mood. Its a top mix, one of the best... More Atmosphere: Value: Quality:

“The staff make you wait to be served whilst they file their nails and watched tv, they were also very rude. the beer is expensive and tastes wrong and has the biggest head! and the food is ridiculous i had nachos it said on the menu tortilla chips with peppers, sour cream, cheese and salsa- i got beef flavored tortilla with lettice(yes lettice!) very runny salsa, a huge blob of sour cream which was curdeled and cheese which was only half melted! it was disgusting. my friend had the all day breakfast which he got chips egg and bacon and wait for it beans and peas!!! (beans and peas on the same plate YUK!) and to top it all off my beer had a fly in it, i'd only had a few sips so i asked for it to be changed and the barmaid basically told me to f*** off! very strongly not recommended!”

“I have been to this bar many times and have always been given a warm welcome and had a good time. In the summer the big beer garden at the back is decked out in flowers and is a great place for a long afternoon/early evening session. In winter the fire and hearty lunchtime menu also do the trick. They have a DJ on Friday nights and it's a great roomy venue to have a private party on a Saturday. Superb.”

“Great atmosphere really good for winding down after a days work. Freindly people easy to make freinds. Not enough seats you may end up standing if you go late but do not know how they would get more seats in. Live music is of great standard. Drinks are a little expensive but you get to sit in a good atmosphere and have music played for you. Just a great place to go drink play cards and listen to the blues!”

“Nice atmosphere and has come a long way since it's old-man-watering-hole roots... Nice comfortable sofas, seated on which one can enjoy a decent, if overpriced large glass of wine [or two, by which time you've pretty much had the bottle, so why not just order one of those - Ed]. Prices can be as high as £4.50 a glass, but still, The North Star is the better choice from a poor selection of non-pikey places to go in Ealing.”

“first time in here since it changed from the Saint Bar, salvador is an improvement with a good atmosphere on a Friday night, but still very pricy. cocktails are strong, lots of ladies there as well!”

“Rude guy behind the bar who couldn't be bothered to pull his finger out when they forgot to tell the kitchen about our food, and told us so 45 minutes later. Left with a bitter taste in our mouth so can't recommend the place.”

“this is most definately the best bar brixton has to offer. Friendly staff, doormen and customers. It feels like a home from home and we always get greeted by the doormen and staff. We used to drink in central brixton but now avoid it like the plaque - crack dealers and doormen with attitide < i read one plan b review and it was spot on ! > the 5 minute walk up the hill is CERTAINLY worth the effort and sunday roasts are so popular we now ring to reserve a table ! the other plus point is the music here - no HOUSE ! what a relief from the other boring boom boom venues ! we WILL be back for more , much more !”

“I went there last week for dinner it was superb. The meal was excellent, I loved the turkish meatballs. Although it was busy the staff found time to cater to whatever I wanted. I live in Chelsea, but I think it's worth the travel just for the food, the wine and the atmosphere”

Moonlighting Club, Soho (Bar)
“Just to clarify Tim's statement that they "are very strict with I.D", *all* clubbers require photo ID (such as driving licence or passport), regardless of age - even a respectable, non-threatening couple, aged 30 and 27, weren't allowed in without photo ID! It is also worth noting that the bouncers were quite rude, not particularly bright, and almost didn't let a group of students in, despite having photo ID, because one of them was Australian!”

“Situated at the foot of Putney Bridge this little jewel in a sea of Pewter really is a drinkers delight. No fuss no thrills just a local, almost country feel with enough regulars to make you feel welcome but not overpowered. Sit and drink on your own, no problem. Please note no coach parties or aussies”
