“My boyfriend had his birthday dinner here last week and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. Ok so the food is typical Islington gastrpub prices but the quality was superb. All in all have to recommend the Alma and am very pleased it's my new local!”

“frankly los locos is a false advertisement. it is no more a classy restaurant than mcdonalds is. the food is of the same quality and for what you get the prices are extortionate. for a start my meal was late i was with a party of twelve and tp sit and watch my fellow diners eat for 10 minutes before my food arived as they forgot our order! next i visited the toilets and i have to say the toilets actually are better quality in mcdonalds and burger king! the floor was wet, it smelt awful and there was a distinct lack of toilet paper! i mean really, need i say more?!”

“This is my local and I would say the only pub worth going to in the near vicinity! I think it's a great pub but do feel it has a few drawbacks - as the bar is soooo large it can take forever to get served (and this isn't just a one-off as I regularly drink here and take forever to get served - especially round the side that looks out on to Green Lanes). I don't mind the beer but a few of my friends would prefer a bit more option. The food can be fantastic, but the Sunday roasts can be very tempremental - sometimes fantastic and at other times really poor. I also agree that the price is too high. All in all though a good pub and you'll be hard pushed to fin a better one near by.”

The Radnor Arms, Kensington (Bar)
“We were in Kensington for a business meeting and toured all the pubs in the area. The Radnor Arms stands out as one of the finest pubs i have been in. The character and warmth alone made it a relaxing evening and the 'homely' layout complete with dining table and a dog and two cats roaming around was something special. I have heard that the pub maybe knocked down and i think that would be a great loss. Save this pub!! It's a fantastic place.”

“My friends tried to eat here on Sunday afternoon. With a small baby, they were asked to wait whilst they could see if there was a table. They even offered to sit outside. When the waiter came back 10 mins later he told them that he was very busy with the tables and that they were 'adding to his stress'. They ate elsewhere and so will we.”

Gowlett Arms, Dulwich (Bar)
“A fine evening had here! The staff were lovely and the food {fine crisp pizzas} was just glorious. There is a superb collection of real ales which the Gowlett rotate, four at a time, on a weekly basis. There was 12 in our party and we had a great night. A good venue for chat and contemplation. It would be a shame if it got too rowdy.”

“I thought it was wicked! Really nice deco, good djs, nice atmosphere (good snob/pleb balance) very tasty cocktails and not too expensive for covent garden. The bouncers were.. interesting and did treat my rolly cigarette with suspicion, but they were quirky and quite friendly. Defo check it out at least once, Jewel really is a nice bar.”

“I like this bar, one of the better ones in soho, always friendly and never too packed like some others, and no attitude either. Good for drinks in an afternoon just chilling. Friendly enough staff and a good service in their too. Very clean bar as well.”

The Magdala, Hampstead (Bar)
“I love this pub. It is one of my favourite pubs to go to after I have taken my dogs for a lovely walk at the park. This pub is run by a very friendly couple and the food is so good that I always end up eating there a few times a week. The desserts are dangerously delicious! There is a very good choice of beers and the pub has a lovely homely atmosphere. Also if you don't fancy eating in the downstairs area where the dogs are allowed, there is a restaurant area upstairs where you can enjoy your meal.”

“I have only been in this pub for lunch a few times. The first two occassions were fine, the guy serving the food was slightly in your face & verging on irritating, but did mean well i guess. As described, the pub is a nice comprimise between trendy & fusty so we decided to go again for a celebration lunch. BIG mistake. When ordering our food we weren't warned they had a meeting in the fuction room upstairs, this was apparently a big problem for the 3 bar snacks we ordered. 20 minutes after ordering our food we were told we would probably have a further 20 minute wait as the kitchen couldn't cope with the function and standard orders for food (it wasn't busy). About 25 minutes later, as we were getting our money back for our non-existent food, our order arrived. This was, obviously really annoying not to mention a waste of a precious lunch-hour. However, the worst part of this was the total lack of apology and willingness to try and smooth ruffled feathers. The aforementioned over-eager member of staff soon vanished when more than inane chat was required and the guy who seemed to be in charge had no sympathy for our complaint and actually turned hostile! We won't be going back.”

The Castle, Angel & Islington (Bar / Restaurant)
“Perfect, especially on the weekends when every other pub is rammed with no where to sit The Castle is tucked away down Pentonville Road. The food was good and the most reasonable priced in the area. The decor leaves something to be desired but the staff were great, really friendly and knowledgeable about the local area. Put off a little by the scaffolding around it but were told by the manager that they are putting a bar in on the roof terrace for the summer which should be good. ”

“Never In my life have I ever been to such a badly run place. The draught beer/larger was sour - Should think of cleaning there lines. The staff just stand around chatting while you attempt to be served. I have never seen so many under aged people in one establishment. Keep clear guys this is a bad place.”

Jewel, West End (Bar / Restaurant / Club)
“I've visited this venue twice and both times were major disappointments. From the start when we were walking in members of staff were rude and unhelpful. This attitude continued through the staff, from those behind the bar, to the man in the coatroom. During our last visit on a Saturday night we tried to go into the downstairs room. It was quite full and we were told it was one in and one out, which is fine. The problem was with the way in which the man from the security staff on the door was managing the situation. He was making people who left to use the toilet wait in line to return. He attempted to rectify the situation by letting the people who had been to the toilet in line ahead of those of us who had been waiting. When asked about this his attitude was dismissive saying, "There's nothing I can do. I'm just doing my job!" With so many bars and clubs in the area, I see no need to deal with the poor attitude of Jewel.”

“We popped in here about 5.30 on a Saturday after shopping in town. Good solid pub. Easy to get served, got a table and was able to watch the FA Cup without the football dominating the pub. Clientele was a mixture of couples, two groups of lads, plus a few drifters as you would expect in Soho. Worth a beer if you're in the area but not worth a special trip.”

The Black Sheep Cafe Bar, Peckham & Camberwell (Bar)
“With this being sister to one of the nicest bars i've been too, The Black Sheep in Crystal Palace and also with it being my local pub, i expect something wonderful.... Well i wasn't disappointed.... On many an occassion me and my mates meet up and socialise here and not only are the staff friendly but you also get that feeling of actually being a local... i.e. they know what drink you want before you even get to the bar. Their food is delicious and their prices are remarkable and its literally a two minute walk to my house so you can bet i'm loving that. It really is a symbol to Oval and Camberwell and it's a glowing and growing establishment.”

New Inn, Richmond & Kew (Bar)
“The New Inn is situated on the picturesque Ham Common a short distance from Richmond Park. If travelling by public transport it is on the 65 bus route. Off street parking is available and free. This pub attracts the smarter 25 to 70 age group. There is a range of real ales, a choice of wines and an excellent although slightly expensive pub food menu. Very much a traditional pub where the staff are friendly and attentive and is only let down by the fact the no smoking area is at the back and they still allow smoking at the bar. There is a small garden patio area with ample seating for the warm summer days and evenings. Highly recommended.”

Loved

"Found myself in the city just as the rush hour was starting, so decided to kill a bit of time until the trains began to empty. As one of the remaining pound-in-the-pot pubs in the area, this is the classiest..." Which venue is this?

Hated

"Girls were rude demanding tips for a poor show. If this is the best club London has to offer don't bother going anywhere else in the city." Which venue is this?
