“Finally went after i heard so many good things about Loungelover. It was everything that my friends said and more. I felt that I was beamed into another world. A world of fun, beauty, amazement and welcome. Its the kind of place to just relax and absorb the ambience and observe the very varied clientele. Loungelover would appeal to a wide cross section of people except those who feel that they don't belong because they are insecure. Places like this are rare and i will make the effort to return as often as possible even though i don't live nearby.”

Mimouza Moroccan Restaurant, Shepherds Bush (Bar / Restaurant)
“Although I've always found Morocco intriguing, I've never really spent much time learning about its customs or its culture, much less its famous cuisine. So when I headed into Mimouza, a Moroccan restaurant on Shepherd’s Bush Green (West London), I had one of the most pleasant surprises of my dining year. Trying to read the names of most of the dishes was beyond me, but our charming waiter handled them with ease and helped us get to our desired choices. However, checking out the descriptions, we found that it was going to be difficult to select because so many things seemed appealing. Luckily, there was MEZZE: a platter of appetizers, so we didn't have to choose in that realm. Zaalouka is a spread of aubergines and tomato with garlic and olive oil. One bite and I was hooked! The tagine Legumes was sizzling with seasonal vegetables, my fiancé chose Chicken tagine: olive oil, fresh garlic and saffron marinated chicken Brest cooked in a broth of lemon, Potatoes and green olives. The space is breath taking and exotically comfortable with Moroccan low and table-seats. The colours of the rooms with real oil paintings of Moroccan native land, and hand woven Berber carpets made all of us wistful to visit Morocco. But as long as Mimouza is around, I won't have to say any strange words to invoke Moroccan magic, just stop in for a bite and experience Mimouza restaurant and its entertainment which comes live with Gnawa band and a taste of live belly dance to end a perfect Moroccan night.”

The New Inn, Ealing (Bar)
“Now perhaps one of the only decent pubs around Ealing. Some might complaing this has become some sort of gastropub, but what's wrong with serving decent food? The carvary is one of the best roasts you'll ever have, and the rest of the menu is always updated regularly and offers something for everyone. Perhaps the most important thing with this place is the quality of the beer. From the real ales to the Guinness, and also the range of good lagers, you're guaranteed a nice fresh pint. Gets busy and lively at the weekends, packed on Sunday lunchtime, and always shows all the big sports events throughout the week. The beer garden is huge, and the summer bbq's great.”

“This has now sadly closed. for how long I don't know. Read the other reviews and totally disagree with most. Don't know how long it's been since they went, but over the last 5months, this place really got going. Not bad food, great bar staff and a friendly atmosphere. I am in the process of trying to get this back open, with newspapers and websites willing to help. It has too much history to close, and a damn shame as it was like my 2nd home!!! Message to the landlord of Chenyne Walk Brasserrie: Please get this reopened asap!!! Ian Chelsea.”

“Wow! This place is just too glamorous for words. It oozes coolness and style. The decor, the cocktails, the just too expensive magnums of crystal are enough to make your eyes water! Beautiful crowd too! If you go, dress up or you'll fade into the brick work and get shown up by their jewelry cabinets! Take a platinum amex too, you'll need it!”

Waterloo Bar & Kitchen, Waterloo (Bar / Restaurant)
“Just wanted to pass on the name of this place as it's somewhere decent to meet near Waterloo. Manager said it has changed owners in the last few months. I took clients for a lunch which was going to be business so their well cooked modern food, excellently presented, fitted the bill. The wine list looked good. Will use it when we go to the Old Vic too.”

Egg London, Kings Cross (Bar / Club)
“I've got to say as an old skool raver, I haven't been to a club like egg for years - The music was the nutts, the people were nutts and it's a wicked atmosphere. If your looking to listen to some foot stomping back breaking house then this is the joint for you - you know that feeling you get when a club ends at 6.00 well suprisingly you still get it at 14.00pm on sunday but you feel content - EGG rocks like no where else.”

The Quays, Kentish Town (Bar)
“This place rocks! Despite being in the north London wilderness of Holloway Road it is well worth a special trip. We liked it so much we went on consecutive Friday and Saturday nights. Great bar staff, punters all up for the craic and really good 'party' music. The bands got everyone in the mood. Good selection of beers, lots of different places in which to perch when not dancing and there was a group having a private party upstairs which looked like a great place to have a do. All in all Quays is thoroughly recommended.”

The Ship Tavern, City of London (Bar)
“The best pub in Holborn by a mile! A real jem of a place. Tucked behind Holborn tube station the Ship Tavern was like a breath of fresh air after a hard slog at the office. I also went there for lunch and had probably the best burger I have tasted to date. Not only that to top it all the service was friendly! (something which is hard to find these days) I should also point out I was very impressed with the music, not your usual juke box rubbish. Top marks from me and well worth a visit.”

Thirst, Soho (Bar)
“Just like to put Ron straight. At Thirst we never over fill the venue and suggesting we do implies we break the law and put our customers safety at risk. Thirst does not have fights. To busy and to loud seems to suggest Ron may in fact be too old. Stay in the suburbs and put your feet up! Look forward to seeing all our happy customers soon. Al Thompson”

Picture of The Church, Brixton, London

The Church, Brixton (Bar / Club)
“The church is a really horrible place and I'd highly recommend that you stay away. I went with a group of friends to say goodbye to a friend who was returning to Australia and we've never had a worse afternoon out - ever. The drinks system when you can only buy three cans at once, which you then have to carry round in a plastic bag, is ridiculous. The venue was filthy and hard to get to. The music was rubbish. The 'entertainment' was a scrubby old stripper who got so graphic we were all embarrassed and a fat compère shouting 'we want tits' on stage. The crowd is made up of a load of louts trying to grope you and vomiting over themselves. If you view this kind of thing as good unpretentious fun and a real laugh then by all means go - if you want anything more from your afternoon than the lowest, nastiest, misogynistic setup imaginable, then stay the hell away.”

The Church, Brixton (Bar / Club)
“I know I'm going to get shouted down like poor Williams further down the page, but here goes anyway. On the occasion that I went to the Church, there were some medics from St Guy's there raising some cash for the hospital. They got up on the stage and were generally having a good time, joining in the drinking games and raising money for a good cause. One of the female medics was asked to remove her top by the compère, and when she refused she was loudly booed by the whole crowd. That's right, they booed a doctor who was raising money for charity because she refused to flash them. So if spending time with the fine specimens of humanity who made up the crowd sounds good to you then by all means go, but don't say you weren't warned.”

Bizzaro, Paddington (Restaurant)
“What can I say? We first encountered this place more than 15 years ago. We were looking for some decent food at a reasonable price. A glance at the menu promised both and we weren't disappointed! From smoked salmon in a cheesy cream sauce over pasta to trota Cleopatra and heaven knows what else over three or four visits in '91, plus a repeat visit in '97, the thought of this place, even with its somewhat quirky atmosphere, still makes me salivate in anticipation!”
