“This place wins hands down for me, best bar in the area, really chilled out with no loud music. The staff are the nicest people ever and go out of their way to make you feel at home and make sure you have a good night. There’s even a private room for couples, when you’re entertaining that special lady! Definitely worth a visit. And the food is really groovy, cheese boards and good bread with olive oil and vinegar 'fantastico'.”

Charlie Wright's Music Lounge, Shoreditch (Bar)
“I used to go to Charlies in 1996-1997 when it was the only venue open after the Bricklayers Arms shut at 11.30pm! It was always a crazy fun packed night with colourful local characters and the Hoxton artist set. Some nights could get dicey - locals scaring visitors their metal-ware in the gents and fights breaking out in dark corners. Charlies is a place i will remember with great fondness and I am delighted to see it lives on despite Shoreditch becomig Soho2! Long live Charlies - it is one of Shoreditch's true originals...”

“I was invited to my friends party there and was mortified!!! The restaurant needs to be redecorated and cleaned, not to mention unfresh food that must have been reheated several times. Good music and atmosphere, attentive management, smooth service and very helpful staff, but don't take your date there if you want to impress.”

Picture of Lucky Voice Soho Private Karaoke, Soho, London

Lucky Voice Soho Private Karaoke, Soho (Bar)
“First the bad... Lucky Voice is a total rip-off. The booths are vastly overpriced as are the drinks. My friend brought a bottle of champagne to the room as it was her birthday, someone obviously spotted this on the CCTV and alerted a bouncer. The bouncer was extremely rude, charged a ten pounds 'corkage' fee and then confiscated the bottle! A two hour session for two people on a Saturday with a bottle of wine will come in at over 100 pounds. Go for dinner at the Ritz intead, cheaper, better food and far more polite. Also the karaoke machines do not allow you to alter the pitch of the song. Even a cheap karaoke machine from Argos will allow you to do this. Also there is often annoying electronic background singing which gets in the way. The The seats are quite comfortable I suppose. I suggest the owners take a trip to Tokyo to experience quality service and reasonable pricing at karaoke bars. Karaoke should be a fun, relaxing experience with unintrusive service. Lucky Voice is more like a money pit where your every move is monitored by the paranoid staff. Avoid like the plague unles someone else is picking up the bill.”

“One of the best restaurant in the Fitzrovia. Perhaps the best for a romantic occasion or simple business. Its not expensive as the people said. I've been there many times and I can said its just my favourite place to go for a decent lunch or dinner. Recommended to all. Marco 25-03-06”

“We had a great time whenever we were trying to ignore the facts that staff were unfriendly and the place is ridiculously expensive - and they charged us £70 more than they confirmed on the phone (the mon-wed price for a friday booking) unless you're up for spending £300+ for two hours and are happy to put up with slow service don't go there ”

Union, Marylebone (Bar / Restaurant)
“Union bar is great, its so friendly, always so busy (lunch times and evenings after work), they've got a real 'work hard' attitude there, with great cocktails. Such a pity the staff there change so frequently, they're great. They always get you everything you need.”

Henry's Cafe Bar, West End (Bar / Restaurant)
“This is a bar that I always go back to... it's a great meeting point, sells draught lager/beer and you can usually get served pretty quickly. There has always been a great atmosphere in there whenever I've been in and some great tunes are played, although the music isn't so loud that you can't have a conversation with your mate! My only complaint is that it doesn't stay open for longer!”

The Fez Club, Putney (Club)
“As a student, Wednesday nights are the best. There is a great atmosphere, and you can never stop dancing. Drinks prices are ok, but look out for the deals. There are great oppurtunties to dress up, and i have been a bunny girl, a hola girl, and school girl in the space of 6 months. Its such a laugh. I have never seen any trouble in their, and they look after you at the end of the night too. (they have a taxi list, to make sure we dont get dodgy men).”

Picture of All Star Lanes, City of London, London

All Star Lanes, City of London (Bar / Restaurant)
“An upmarket addition to the Bloomsbury bowling scene, All Star Lanes is a cut above the competition. The four full-size lanes have an American-style diner down one side, serving juicy burgers and salads. The bar is a surprise, swathed in red with plenty of space and often the home to a live DJ: cocktails are US-themed, the handiwork of the Worldwide Cocktail Club, and are all properly made, and there's a fine selection of beers. For the munificent or, let's face it, company-sponsored, there's a private room with it's own bar and two more lanes. The only downer is that it's so popular it's hard to get a bowl in here. Book early!”
