We had an unbelievable time, delicious food with fantastic service; I’m sure they will get better with the desserts…couldn’t go any better. More Atmosphere: Value: Quality:

“Great food and reasonably priced (given the location). Our only gripe was the service: several times it took 10+ minutes for drinks to arrive after ordering (quite a feat considering we were ordering bottled beer). The waiting staff are masters at ignoring "please may I have some service" hand waving.”

“A great bar in the summer when you can spill out over the pavement, but when we visited last night (a cold March evening) we were a little disappointed. The place was emptying after dinner and there were a number of free tables. When we asked if our party of six could sit at one of these we were told no. Instead we were directed to huddle around a small table by the door (freezing every time the door was opened). To make matters worse we were told we had to collect our own chairs from outside. The bar staff had stripped down the bar by 10.30 and the overall impression was they didn't want our business. I guess, during winter months, they are only interested in diners. Shame as they do a good margarita.”

“I spent my 31st birthday here and was looked after so well! We booked an area and were looked after by a lovely waitress... This bar has everything, Great music, friendly staff, excellent atmosphere and wicked art work in the outside smoking patio - can't wait til summer, this place will be great! Can't really say anything bad about this place... It's unpretentious, but very cool, one of the better venues in oh-so-cool Shoredich. It got pretty busy, but that's a good thing?! Will be returning again and again!”

“I don't know what the other reviews are talking about, but our night out at the Bluebird was fantastic. Started with cocktails in the bar. Seriously good, best I've had in a long time. Great service too. The buzz on a Thursday was excellent, with dinner to follow in the adjoining restaurant. Food was good too, conventional British fare. Didn't blow me away, but still very enjoyable. Back to the bar for a last drink was the highlight of a great evening.”

“One of Balham’s best pubs. There’s plenty of old school character here and it’s easy to lose an afternoon hanging out amongst the 30somethings of South London. Old wooden walls, board games, interesting beers, and a refusal to look outside at the rain. Great for the colder months, fact!”

“Quite simply amazing food. We came here for one of chef Jordi’s special Chef’s Table nights. My goodness, what a gastronomical adventure! The things his does with his ingredients are mind-blowing, especially when the cost of the meal is taken into account (comes with wine for only £39!!). The wine cellars are very impressive too and we were encouraged to hand pick our wines from the bins ourselves. One of The City’s best kept secrets. I would say this is a must for anyone who works in the area.”

“Not the most modern of restaurants, and it has a certain ‘Little Chef’ feel about it, but the lunch special was pretty decent. A two course affair involving various pancakes for only about £8. A cheap place for a shopping lunch break.”

“This pub is great for those lazy Sunday afternoons. A short stroll around Greenwich, perhaps taking in the museum, before staking a claim to a table near the bay window with an impressive view of the Isle of Dogs and the O2. The roasts are adequate in quality and generous in portion. Make sure you get a spot early though, it is very popular with migrating tourists.”

“Best pub inside a train station ever! Loads of unusual character, which is so frequently missing from many a gastropub. And the transport connections couldn’t be any better really. Never looks like it’s busy, even though it should be. Great selection of interesting beers and a fairly decent menu too. Perfect outdoor seating for late summer afternoons because it is west-facing.”

“A proper gastropub so close to Oxford Street? How can this be?! Not easily seen from the main shopping precinct but a great one to know about if you need some respite from the madness of consumerism. There’s lots of seating options and enough nooks and crannies to make it feel like you’ve escaped. Good beer selection too.”

“I was first invited to Antonia’s before Christmas for a private party. It was a fantastic night! Staff could not have been more accommodating or friendlier - the service was ‘Top Class’. It has since become a regular favourite as the food is great, fresh, healthy, creative cooking and amazing value for money. An interesting Mediterranean menu with beautiful pasta selections… you can even create your own. I would highly recommend the Mediterranean vegetable and goats cheese pizza and there are always a broad selection of fresh salads available. We often treat ourselves to one of their delicious deserts. Some evenings it gets very busy as it’s the No.1 hot spot for show goers at the Apollo theatre and has just won the good food award for best local cafe. A warm and buzzy atmosphere!”

“I really liked the atmosphere of the place and felt relaxed from the moment I walked in and enjoyed seeing the place fill and get more buzzing. The wine was lovely and the service excellent and although the food wasn't the best tapas I've had I left feeling very satisfied and did enjoy the many dishes we sampled. Overall I had a lovely night and would go again although next time I want to sit where I can see the dancers properly..flamenco only works if you can see the feet!”

“This would make a great present for someone special. I took a loved one on this river cruise and we felt like we were millionaires the whole afternoon. Amazing food, in plentiful amounts, fantastic views of nearly all of London's sites, as much champagne and wine as you'd ever need on a Friday afternoon, and a complete overall sense of well-being by the end.”

“the theory is great, the reality disappoints. no tv screens, no gaming machines, good music but not too loud, nice mixed clientele, good food, range of beers etc... but we have had a different experience from previous reviewers. We have found the staff surly and humourless to the point of being rude. Penultimate time we were there we were told there would be a half hour wait for the sunday roast, but after an hour and a half we were told it wasn't happening and left with the resounding feeling that it was somehow our fault for being so stupid as to believe them and wait that long. Other stuff friendly and okay to be fair but have had one too many surly and unwelcoming responses from the main man... I've seen in previous reviews on other sites people complain about being charge service for a pub lunch. I don't mind having served my time working in pubs, but service charge for rudeness is not on. That said, give it a go, you may have a different experience. But for us, we can always find somewhere else to go in this area”

“This is a great restaurant. We’ve been here several times and the food and service have always been spot on. Big portions, lively, relaxed atmosphere and great cocktails. I can highly recommend the chicken wings and the ribs – they’re what we keep going back for!”

“It was definitelly a night to remember. A good looking man asked me for a drink on the 25th of february there. Sadly i said no for some reason. Anyways, if u read this I would love to see you again :) Great atmosphere, great cocktails. The waiter wasn't too friendly. I couldn't really hear the music but it was still pretty early (around 21.00). Definitely will be back.”

“Well, apart from being 'hijacked' on a street corner by one of their salesmen, to con us into going there, I didn't appreciate having to pay £12 to get in, then finding out i could have possibly got it for 10 from another one of their 'salesmen'. Not only did we have tickets, but we still had to wait outside for half an hour to actually get in! By the time we got in, my feet were aching and when i tried to go and sit down at a table, i was told i wasnt allowed to do so cos i didnt have a 'wristband' - whatever that meant. I assume it's because i had to pay to go into that area! What a cheek. i didn't appreciate it. The decoration of the place is done well, i'll admit. but it doesnt make up for feeling so uncomfortable. I didn't bother going to the bar... my friends bought me a drink so i didnt know how much it even cost. the music was a bit housey for me, and the crowd was lots of young school leavers mostly. Only good thing about it is that it wasnt over crowded. I wont be going back again though.”

“This is the best salsa bar i have been to!! It had a hell of a lot to do with the people though. A very mixed group of people who all like to dance and have FUN. I had so much fun dancing with everyone - i am still buzzed out! the drinks were well priced and generous too. Loved it.”
