“Great traditional pub on the back streets of Kensington. Busy on a Thursday night and only £2.60 for a pint of Doom! Can't get much better than that in London these days....”

“My friend and I went along pre theatre for drinks, the venue is fantastic and the staff divine. Having been to many restuarants/bar's all over London, it was definatley one of the best. I will be trying it again on an evening and for dinner next time.”

“I love Locale! It's always busy and has a great atmosphere, the food is tasty and the service is good. It may be slightly more than average pub prices but then it's not a pub!”

“Long story short: Upper Street branch, crappy, rude service. Waited forever for our drinks. We had to before the next table arrives, but it took them so long to print the damn bill, we wasted another half hour sorting it out! We asked that we just get another bill printed so we can speed it up and was refused and rudely reprimanded. Shocking. We where then called back, because we didn't pay a drinks bill (another one, which was seperate, but not presented to us at time of paying). We explained this and that started a huge argument with "bouncer / manager". Never again man. The food wasn't even that great! Overcooked, cheap meats, rude waiters running back and fro, nobody explaining how we should order / how the system works. Restaurant was loud and chaotic and not a very nice ambience. Just rubbish and totally over priced for what you get. Give it a wide berth.”

Wodka, Kensington (Restaurant)
“Tucked behind the main lights of London town and nestled amongst one of the loveliest pubs your likely to grace in the city sits Wodka. A polish restaurant with a penchant for vodkas. The setting is cosy, quaint almost, and we felt that we had most likely discovered a gem when we walked in. We started with the blinis. A miniature pancake which comes served with a variety of edibles that you might want to dump on the top of it. Take your pick from vinegary herring, wood mushrooms, plain yogurt, salmon and embriotic roe sacks. Now to be fair the mushroom pate was reasonably inoffensive, but the blinis were more of an ill fated flat Yorkshire pud than a pancake, the herring induced the gag reflex and the yogurt was more like Tesco Value plain than the Polish garlic flavour as advertised. Onto the main course, where my good friend Warrior received a pig leg fit for Mutley to dine on, lain on a bed of saurkraut. It's a good job he wasn't aiming to hit his 5 a day target last night… My stewed sinnew - or goulash - as it was referred to, was a bowl of connecting tissue in gravy without any of the sausage it promised on the menu. We skipped desert. And did I mention that the waiter sniggered at me when I order a vodka and soda… Pah! Value for money, put it this way, if I didn't get a 50% discount I would have been Royally p****** off. Prost.”

“Eaten many places in London, would have to say well worthy. Far superior to something like an "All bar one". 6 of us ate there and all were very satisfied. Service is a little slow but friendly. Enjoyable relaxed atmosphere. Looking forward to next time we're in the area.”

“i went here with a friend one night during the week. although the food is extremely well-priced i have to say, when ever i think back to the food, i think: stodgy. People raved about carluccio's so much - thought id go back a second time and order something else. Still, stodgy. maybe italian and i dont mix so well.”

“i really enjoyed waxy o'connors. the music especially was very attractive as it was all the hits from the 90's - when i was a teeny bopper. it was so much fun. Even though i went on a thursday night, it was still busy with full of intersting people. great place.”

“i came here on a date and it was perfect for the first date nerves! the music was lively and the service was good. some of the tapas were quite expensive though and they forgot to bring one of the dishes i requested. all in all though, a good night and it's also really busy... so enough to distract us a little at those awkward moments of silence.”

“Great food and reasonably priced (given the location). Our only gripe was the service: several times it took 10+ minutes for drinks to arrive after ordering (quite a feat considering we were ordering bottled beer). The waiting staff are masters at ignoring "please may I have some service" hand waving.”

“A great bar in the summer when you can spill out over the pavement, but when we visited last night (a cold March evening) we were a little disappointed. The place was emptying after dinner and there were a number of free tables. When we asked if our party of six could sit at one of these we were told no. Instead we were directed to huddle around a small table by the door (freezing every time the door was opened). To make matters worse we were told we had to collect our own chairs from outside. The bar staff had stripped down the bar by 10.30 and the overall impression was they didn't want our business. I guess, during winter months, they are only interested in diners. Shame as they do a good margarita.”

“I spent my 31st birthday here and was looked after so well! We booked an area and were looked after by a lovely waitress... This bar has everything, Great music, friendly staff, excellent atmosphere and wicked art work in the outside smoking patio - can't wait til summer, this place will be great! Can't really say anything bad about this place... It's unpretentious, but very cool, one of the better venues in oh-so-cool Shoredich. It got pretty busy, but that's a good thing?! Will be returning again and again!”

“I don't know what the other reviews are talking about, but our night out at the Bluebird was fantastic. Started with cocktails in the bar. Seriously good, best I've had in a long time. Great service too. The buzz on a Thursday was excellent, with dinner to follow in the adjoining restaurant. Food was good too, conventional British fare. Didn't blow me away, but still very enjoyable. Back to the bar for a last drink was the highlight of a great evening.”

“One of Balham’s best pubs. There’s plenty of old school character here and it’s easy to lose an afternoon hanging out amongst the 30somethings of South London. Old wooden walls, board games, interesting beers, and a refusal to look outside at the rain. Great for the colder months, fact!”

“Quite simply amazing food. We came here for one of chef Jordi’s special Chef’s Table nights. My goodness, what a gastronomical adventure! The things his does with his ingredients are mind-blowing, especially when the cost of the meal is taken into account (comes with wine for only £39!!). The wine cellars are very impressive too and we were encouraged to hand pick our wines from the bins ourselves. One of The City’s best kept secrets. I would say this is a must for anyone who works in the area.”
